Best way to keep knowledge a secret. Kill any one who trys to learn it.
Make sure there dead.
If you don't make sure there dead .you will end up having to deal with a party of good doers later on. I can see it now.
human fighter ,crazy evil barbarian/ranger halfing that they only keep around for killing stuff,a fire mage,a dwarf priest,,a rogue, and the bard who the rogue is doom to fall in love with.

No it's not. If you were a tech, you'd know how often those with power have less knowledge than their underlings.

Knowledge is power, power is not knowledge (middle management proves this)
Power is for any one who can take it.
Be it by birth, force, or knowledge.
Birth is the most tenuous and useless way to gain power. You do nothing to deserve it, you can't influence it and can't hope to hold it without either knowledge or power. Power by birth is merely a perk randomly assigned at character creation.
Force, knowlege and most importantly the knowledge of when to use force is the only real path to power

You know, we are DAMNED good at talking bollocks!
I would also like to take this oppourtunity to welcome you to GOG and it's forums, aka the madhouse. Fortunately, you have met the one sane person here. Unfortunately (at least for me (oh, who am I kidding, I like being crazy)) it is not me. However, that person has posted in this thread. Try and guess who it is, I think you will be unpleasantly surprised.
Is it me? Or one of those other voices I keep hearing, the ones that like fire?
Just joined meself too!
I've already bought quite a few games, and I expect I will probably buy a few more in time.
What I'm loving is all the neat extras you get with the games.
Even though a hard-copy may be cheaper, if I get an OST, and some Artwork, I'm pretty much sold! XD
EDIT: Also being a UK resident, gives me extra buying power! (XD), so $5.99 games are like £4 for me (£4= A canteen dinner! :D).
I really like that actually. Some sites are pretty evil when it comes to exchange rates.
Like Steam, automatically makes you buy in pounds (even though its usually the SAME in dollars so to them $2=£2).
