Coinciding with the announcement of new publisher - Frogwares - joining GOG.com, we're releasing the first game about the adventures of the famous Sherlock Holmes.
[url=https://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/sherlock_holmes_secret_of_the_silver_earring]Sherlock Holmes: Secret of the Silver Earring is a point and click adventure game that puts you in the boots of one of the most brilliant and intelligent detectives known to humankind. Together with his trusted friend Dr. Watson, Sherlock is invited to a party hosted by Sir Melvyn Bromsby in honor of the return of his daughter, Lavinia. During his opening remarks Sir Bromsby is killed by a gunshot in front of Sherlock's very own eyes. As Sherlock and Watson, you need to interrogate all of the witnesses and suspects, analyze discovered items and use your talents of deduction to piece together the clues and find out who is the killer.
Please please tell me this isn't an adventure game that devolves into mystic, supernatural nonsense.

Well, I have never played it, nor heard about it before, but all right:
It isn't an adventure game that devolves into mystic, supernatural nonsense.
I am unsure how is that of any help however
from what I've read this is actually a very good adventure game that is very close to the original Sherlock books (so no magic, just pure reasoning)
good atmosphere, average difficulty (experts won't be bored, newbies won't suffer much :)) and a necessary "end of the game identifying of the murderer/thief/whatever" so I guess it's worth a try!
Well, the title does little to capture your attention or wallet.
I played the demo of Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper and it was pretty good as far as detective adventure games go
I loved The Awakening.
Unfortunately Nemesis and Vs. Jack the Ripper have been sitting on my shelf unplayed since I bought them... just not enough time in the day.
Hence buying the first, and by all accounts worst, game in the series is not high on my list.
Also, I never really complain about pricing, but $10 for this one is a bit steep considering it's part of a package with some newer ones for $20 total.
Well, personally I don't like adventure games but the more games GoG has the more customers will come and that is good for all of us.

The Mystery of the Mummy was the first in the series, and that was worse than this one in my opinion. I thought Jack the Ripper was excellent, if a bit short. It has a lot of context to the real case and tried to be logical with the story.
I am really glad Frogwares is part of GOG, but I'm disappointed that I own and have completed all the Sherlock Holmes games, and I also played that Dracula game as well, although it was nowhere near as good as the SH collection. I look forward to seeing what they will bring in the future. :)
Not my cup of tea but nice to see on gog for all you adventure lovers
guess i won't be buying new games from gog this week (if it journey to center thursday), because to be honest i think the games are mediocre and at 9.99 overpriced...
Definitely in my wishlist.
I already had this on Steam and just finished it two days ago, coincidentally. I thought it was a decent mystery game, although perhaps not as good as Nemesis or Jack the Ripper.
If you're unsure, you could always just download the demo off of Big Fish Games. They may sell the game for about 3 dollars cheaper than GOG, but it isn't DRM free, cannot be backed up locally and obviously doesn't have any of the extras (either current or possible future ones).
