Bah. I didn't realize that gog is in europe (card denied). Hopefully I can get bank approval in the morning before the sale ends.

noyz: Any suggestions?
Well, there are a number of oldies-but-goodies here that I like to recommend to newcomers.

MDK
Third-person shooter with hilarious over-the-top weapons.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto
First/third-person shooter with squad control and base building elements.

Sacrifice
Third-person fantasy RTS (yes, that is a thing) with great voice acting, story and replayability.

Dungeon Keeper
Base building RTS. Dig out your dungeon, build rooms, summon creatures and show those pesky goody-two-shoes heroes and other keepers who's boss (has nothing to do with the recent shitty pay-to-win android "remake" other than the name).

Star Control 2
A space exploration adventure game with arcade space combat, resource management, RPG elements, tons of alien races and a huge starmap to explore. I'll advise buying the game here to support it, then downloading the free modern source port The Ur-Quan Masters and play that instead.

All 5 games are characterized by a phenomenal sense of humor.

You should be able to add money to your paypal account. Then you can just use paypal to pay.
If you are interested in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. , I say... definitely go for it!

I'm posting the link where I wrote my opinions about the game game, if you are interested.

Also, since right now there are several bundles on promo, I warmly recommend you two of my favourite series ever: </span> and <span class="bold">[url=http://www.gog.com/promo/big_fall_thief_bundle_161114]Thief!
Trust me, you will not regret the purchase! :)

I agree with Enebias, try Hitman. It's a good game. The early Fallout games are worth playing (I think they are no longer available here at the time). Shadowrun is good, too. Planescape: Torment has an incredibly good story, if you're into heavy-dialog CRPGs. BTW, if that grips you, have a look at **********.*** , I plegded here and would suggest you to do the same. Witcher 1 would be well worth your money, since you liked Risen.

There is always the possibility to browse through the games sorted by user reviews. This does in general lead to good results, but there is a problem with that: user reviews can never be updated and since changes are made every now and then, some reviews simply contain information that are wrong. To address this problem, I would kindly request you to vote here:

Best regards,

JD

Edit: it seems I am not allowed to post links. for the first one, search for Torment: Tides of Numenera in the internet, for the second one, search for 'edit reviews' in the requested features section.

NoNewTaleToTell: In that case, I offer you a recommendation of The Serpentine Gallery by Switchblade Symphony. It's a unique goth/darkwave album from the early 90s and definitely one of my favorite albums of all time. The music video for Clown is an all time favorite too, simple, obviously budget friendly but it's absolutely great.
Not quite what i like but thank's for the recommendation anyway. :)
I missed this sale, but I'll be ready for the winter sale (Same time every year?). I guess there is a lot of hacking going on in the financial world. I never ran into this issue before. Still playing on Treasure Adventure Game at the moment. This game is very well done.

Enebias, I got a Hitman bundle a couple of years back. I ran into so many bugs that I had to abandon those games.

Do you have any interest in playing Torchlight? I have a couple of extra codes if you'd like one :) The only catch is that you have to redeem it yourself, not for trade or profit ;D
I don't know if anyone's said it so far, but you sound like an incredibly cool person. I'll try out Treasure Adventure Game because of you. Cheers.

Since you mentioned the winter sale, GOG often gives us a nice prezzie during many of them!

This last sale, it was Mount & Blade, and I can recall a few nice gifts from various previous sales! That's a major plus in GOG's favour, and I haven't come across many companies willing to be so generous.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to say it, but welcome to GOG! :-)

Welcome to GOG!

As blakstar said, sales here on GOG are often something more than just discounted games. Free game if you just click a banner (recently with Mount & Blade), clicking a button once a day during the sale to collect free game and a movie (very recently with Witcher 2) or the famous Insomnia sale, where particular games were discounted just for a period of time and with limited quantity. It was called Insomnia, because you never knew what game would come up next for a discount, so you watched many games disappear (you'd be amazed how fast can a hundred or more games get purchased after just being displayed as discounted, it's a matter of seconds) and waited if some interesting game would come up.

The community here is also very nice. As you noticed, there are many giveaways. There's something intriguing and refreshing in a community just giving away games to "strangers form the internet" and enjoying it. Also, the forums aren't heavily moderated, so while you may see some swearing, at least you won't fell like "better to not post all my thoughts of I'll get banned".

Also, the support team really supports. The older games, while modernized to work on modern systems, can sometimes still fail to work properly. Here comes the support, these people will really try to get you game running, and if all fails, you could get a refund - something not common in digital distribution.

Of course there's the complete lack of DRM, too. Download, install and play.

It's nice for you to offer, but no more freebies for me until I give something back. Thanks for the offer.

If you like platformers, you'll like this one. Other than a little bug so far, this game is quality. I think it is as good as any platformer that I have ever played. I'm only a 1/4 way through so it's a little early to say, but it's probably better than some of the classic platformers, imo. There is lots to like, from the level design to the music.

Thanks for the welcomes.

I have 2 questions:
a) what magic do you use to have the word Torchlight underlined and behave like a link?
b) how good is Torchlight? does it have any sort of storyline? it looks like a rather generic grinder/crawler on first sight...

I just started Icewind Dale I Complete. It looks like a fairly good game so far with good story telling.
I can totally recommend Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen 2. Stay away from Legacy of Kain: Defiance.
I can also recommend Tomb Raider II.

Best regards JD
To create hyperlink text, follow these steps:

1.) Type out the words you want the reader to see, such as "Torchlight".

2.) Highlight the text and then click the little chain-link icon to the left of your text window. It's the fourth block to the right, among the Italic, Bold and Underline buttons. This is going to create a line of code that looks like this (but with no spaces, of course):

[ url=Torchlight ] Torchlight [ /url ]

3.) In the [ url=Torchlight ] section, replace the word "Torchlight" (in this instance) with the URL you want to share. I this case, we'll use the game's store page: http://www.gog.com/game/torchlight

With that, you'll be all done and it will look like this: Torchlight

EDIT: If you want to see how it is formatted properly, just highlight my post and click the "Reply" button that pops up. In my quoted text included in your post window, you will see the code as it should appear.
