There's also the fact that "problems" we have today in regards to sex weren't commonly called problems in ages past. We're pretty quick to demonize and try to "fix" people today. You can see that with fetishes and sexual issues. If you did have them, like you said, they tended to keep quiet about them.

Unrelated to that, I've honestly considered calling my bank and putting some type of hold on my account so that when I use it, I have to verify my purchase with them. That little bit of extra trouble to keep me from impulse buying. When games are so cheap these days, it's almost as if it doesn't count. "Oh, it's only three dollars!", but after several of those purchases they add up *fast*.

I just have PC and PS2 (which I haven't touched in long time and if I finally find my copy of FFXII, I'll probably play it with an emulator).

I would have liked to play Zeldas, Red dead redemption, Metal gear solid 4 and other console games but you know.. I don't have those but at least I got plenty in PC. =)

Annnnd bought Kingdoms of Amalur Complete.

In past months, I did buy what for me as casual gamer felt like an outrageous quantity of games here on GoG, but nah, I never had a need to just go and buy something. I bought what I know I am or will be potentially interested in, if it felt like a good deal.

That way when I get an itch, I have a good backlog (about 40 games) to choose from.

Not to get too personal but my own mental issues have causes buying sprees for sure. Mostly that was physical goods though, something to hold in my hand to make me feel happy.

Anyway, when normal I still buy a ton of shooters and Western RPGs. I love those genres though, they are 90% of what I play and I will get around to all of them eventually. I wait for sales on the lesser ones, like just finally buying Reckoning for $10. I think that is normal.

What is not normal is buying things you will likely never play and have no real interest in. I only do that when not in my right mind.

I'm not disagreeing on the issue (and I remember reading something about this in the Time I think...). I'm just saying that my immature nature and addiction hookers can not be saturate by porn alone ;-).

Personally, I think this is a good development. Just like homosexuality is taking away a lot of the competition (and lets be honest, straight guys could never compete with homosexuals) this might thin the field even more.
