Definitely not Wheel of Time, then. Looks like that original IP they were talking about.
I still think it's going to be a Futurama RPG.

Family Guy: Legacy of the Griffins
I was under the impression that the third instalment of Dungeon Siege kind of bombed. In fact, every other Obsidian title fares pretty badly so I'm not going to go getting my hopes up for another "could have been good if only..." title. But if they could do another game to the calibre of New Vegas then colour me interested. Very bloody interested.

Obsidian reminds me a lot of Troika, in that they tend to produce really ambitious awesome games, but due the ambition they're often shipped in a buggy or incomplete state.

Yeah, but Troika games were consistently exactly as you described. Obsidian either nail it dead on and create something incredible (bar the need for a few patches). Or they miss the mark so wildly that it's hard to see how the game could ever have been good without substantial chunks of it being remade. New, less egotistical management would go a long way to solving their woes, but I think they're let down on the creative side sometimes as well.

True, I've only really played Obsidian's good games so my view is a bit lopsided in that case. I wonder if the South Park thing was any good (I don't like South Park)...

It's not out yet. But I've got no idea how it's going to work. Must be some kind of JRPG elements in there. Beyond that I don't know. But I am kind of interested to see what they do with it. South Park has now been around so long that it must be difficult to keep coming up with new ideas for it, never mind for a game which will probably last at least 10 hours.
I like Obsidian games, but I hope this new game doesn't suffers from consolitis like Dungeon Siege III, which was the main problem with the game. DS III wasn't a really bad game, but isn't a Dungeon Siege game, except by setting.
Honestly, the page didn't make me want to know more. since it's a fantasy themed image on the homepage, I'll assume that this is going to be ANOTHER fantasy RPG to go along with all the other fantasy RPGs out there. I don't care about a reboot of an old game, because most of them suck and none of them actually have the same feel of the original game. I don't care about an original IP, because they are rarely original.

I'd love to see something fresh and entertaining, but with a single page and a whole bunch of fanboy/girl speculation doesn't give me any hope; hence my jaded, nihilistic tone.
ooo, hope it's a nice RPG not set in generic Tolkien fantasy...

xlucidx: It's Dungeon Siege 4, pretty obvious really.
And a huge shame, DS3 was mediocre.
avatar
Porkdish: And yet it still managed to be better than Dungeon Siege , LoA & Dungeon Siege 2.
except for that bit were it wasn't. Well: DS2>DS3>DS1>LOA.

They were filming something today. Possible Kickstarter video?

It;d be a very strange way of introducing a Kickstarter. KS would be a good route for Obsidian though, since it seems like they have a tendency to get screwed over by publishers.
New day, number 2:

I recognize your pain. Your kind must learn it comes from straining against the turning of the world. It spins thus. You cannot stop it. One day, you will wake up. You will stop pulling. The pain will be gone. Until then, all your waking hours are suffering.

And in the source code:

<!--. X . X X I T X -->
<!-- In time, waves washing against the fingers of Geiran's Grasp will call them back into the sea. The difference between you and the sea is that the sea does not stop. -->

DieRuhe: Wow, a site devoted to speculation! I can't wait to jump into it. Not. :-)
This. Not even remotely interested until they release anything tangible.
