I think the problem is not that UK doesn't have good bands/artists but that radio and music channels keep playing chart shite for masses. And by masses I mean pre-teens and chavs who then keep playing it on the f-ing bus on their shitty phones...

See, it's probably just because I came over to UK 5 years ago and shock of how big chart music is here was... tremendous. That also might be that before getting my ass on the plane I avoided charts at all cost... It doesn't really justify in my eyes how "in your face" that shit is. Can understand radio playing that music - freedom of choice, listen to whatever the hell you want, but I'm still yet to find or get told frequency of great metal/rock radio, hear some rock played on the phones while traversing town on the bus, etc...
I just get depressed every time I hear "new single from fantastic <put in x-factor type show winners that will hopefully get hit by a bus>". All hope is kind of saved by local bands though.
