Throdax: A special doll of our beloved ruler (Lady of Pain).

Hehe yes, the "Tickle Me Lady Of Pain" was one of the more fun parts of the game...
Another weird thing that I either alike or not (Been years and I still can't decide) is that there's no ranged weapons (Well okay, there's Nordom but he's hard to get). I sort of miss the idea of building a unit that can barrage the enemy before they reach you like in baldurs gate & icewind dale but then the lack of ranged weapons helps make the game even more unusual

Good news! Interplay has re-released Planescape Torment and the other Interplay/Black Isle CRPG's like Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Night's. It can be purchased from Amazon for £17.99 (E20/$25) or less right this minute! Go get it, play it and finish it, and realise how you haven't really been a gamer prior to that, just a pretender! ;)
Gotta say I'm lucky I subscribed to this "top games" or whatever it was called despite all the shitty games I got out of it. Weird how there is no such thing anymore ( at least not here in Sweden). Sure the problem was that you would get games that you had no interest in ( like some super heavy flight sim) but at the same time i got fallout 2 and planescape from it which wasn't too bad :)

hmm... that saddens me.
this means that interplay has rights to those games. and if they have rights they would release it here and steam and everywhere since they are strapped for cash.
they did not. so chance of seeing those games here are very very low then.
Many of you guys seem to be ready to give a hefty sum of money for this game so I started wondering if it's really so hard to find a copy nowadays. Because I just bought a new copy of this game for 12 Euros from a Scandinavian web store and so I thought it can't be so hard to find since they had it. And they still seem to have it, it's not sold out yet or anything.

I think it WAS hard to find, even until pretty recently, and most people just gave up. Just like me. But then, EndlessKnight pointed me to a shop in Britain, so package is on it's way to me right now :-)
So yeah, it's not so hard now apparently
This is a game that passed me by and I never played it. I've been looking ever since, and was really hoping I would find it on gog.com. I may have to search elsewhere, but this is a game I'm still looking to play.
Which reminds me, that 2 days ago Matt Barton added the inverview with Chris Avellone to his Matt Chat series. ;D
Loved Planescape Torment, I would also liked to have seen more games using the Dark Sun and Spelljammer settings as well. Even the Dragonlance world with the Baldurs Gate style engine would have been cool

Okay, so you'll just have to look for it in the right place. Great that you're gonna get your copy soon, I've heard it's an awesome game. Haven't had time to get into it yet, though.
I remember playing Torment when I was a kid. I never completed it since I never got that far cause I couldn't figure out how to complete some of the quests and didn't know where exactly to go. Overall, I had fun playing it. Baldur's Gate 2 is still my favorite RPG of all time but Torment is great.
I would love to purchase the DVD version from Amazon but I'm worried about compatibility issues with my Vista laptop. A couple of vendors claim that it's Vista compatible but I still have some doubts.
I really hope GOG offers a Vista compatible version really soon.

The original CD version works fine in Vista and 7 32- and 64-bit (you just have to switch the display to 16-bit mode), and the DVD should be no different. Just make sure to patch it to the latest patch (1.1, wherever it may be found) as I doubt the disc is prepatched.

Me too but this is a reasonable workaround

Torment is one of my all time favourites. It's one of the few CRPG's in which you can actually talk yourself out of most of the situations if you are smart enough. You don't even have to kill the main baddie of the game if you play your cards right.
From my opinion Torment is the best D&D based CRPG made.
