Never saw that. But there's more attention to a thread, not a single post. :)

More annoyance too, particularly since the wishlist is the only means by which to further desired goal, as stated in stickied threads. We get one of these every week for eternity. Forgive me if I'm being a jerk, this is just reallllly old.
I don't understand your post. If I was really breaking the rules, then this thread would have been closed already.

I don't think I've seen a single thread locked on this board (I might have just been lucky).
But...
Bad netiquette is not going to increase the chances of the game being released, it might just enrage the community (which would be a shame as they're a great bunch of Guys and Gals).

I'm not trying to act stupid or anything, but how would a thread asking for people to vote on Wing Commander "enrage the community?"
Your overreacting a little bit.

Because we used to get dozens of these threads every week and it gets really annoying to see the forums cluttered with posts like this. As a community, we pretty much decided that things like this are not necessary and since we are pretty much a self-regulating community (there aren't really any moderators here), you may find that people will try to politely encourage you to not do it anymore. You didn't do anything that was against the rules, just against the established norms of the community.

Ok thanks. Why did that take a ton of posts for someone to tell me that?
And besides, not one of the posts (except yours and the other dude) was angry at all.
Because those of us that would rip into you for making such a stupid post have taken it upon themselves to let the kinder, gentler users politely suggest better ways of doing things.
With that in mind, telling established users that a post in the beg thread isn't good enough, or bumping your post just shows how immature and worthless you are to this community.

Okay, that was a little uncalled for, so I'm going to assume that you forgot to use the [sarcasm] tags. We really don't need to be berating the new guys for not knowing the "unwritten rules" of the GOG forums, that kind of flies in the face of what is supposed to be a "classy community".
Darkenmal, another explanation as to why unnessecarily bumping a thread is bad is as follows. Now bear in mind this is from my experiences as a moderator on another board.....
Often in a forum, especially a busy one, or one that has a lot of threads per page, is that the casual visitor will often look at only the first page. Since this is regarded as the 'hot' threads because they are the most active or the newest. If your thread has dropped a wee bit, its not really necessary to just bump it after a few hours, especially as it might displace others.
Now I know the more fanatic among us (or the ones with no life :) ) will probably look beyond page one, but thats how to look at it.
You're all dicks! LEAVE DARKENMAL ALONE.

Thats uncalled for. What you did there is a good way to chase people out. Being a douchebag to a new member isn't exactly a good way to build a lasting community.
I was never rude, and yet you guys attack me for bumping a thread. It's frowned upon yes, but it isn't forbidden, it's like there isn't a sign that says NO BUMPING, with a pile of dead bodies under the sign.
Also, since when is it a crime for asking a simple question?
On that happy note, thanks Vagabond and Jadefalcon for helping me out. :)

No dead bodies, but if you read the sticky, under the code of conduct, you will find this little gem in there.
"bumping” existing topics or creating forum petitions won't be tolerated"
Your original question wasn't the big issue, it was your bumping and response to chautemoc when they showed you the beg for this on GOG thread.
Wow, I never noticed that little gem before. Now I feel bad for bumping the FAQ back up (then again, it only gets a bump every few weeks). Of course, the FAQ would probably qualify as an exception to the rule, just like the demo links thread, the Win 7 testing thread, the Linux/Wine thread, etc.

I repeat, if they didn't like this thread (or the bump), they would have locked/deleted it.
The response I made wasn't rude or anything to chautemoc. The ending of your post makes no sense either, so you might as well edit that.
You guys need to chill. I bumped yes, but there is no need for all this. I didn't see it, didn't know. And if this is the greeting you give to new members, It's a wonder anyone sticks around to check out the site.
