Also I find it hilarious that somebody would complain about Valve games exploiting one gimmick for the duration of their run time while simultaneously pining for the next Half-Life 2 entry, given that the whole damn thing has been Gravity Gun, Gravity Gun Episode One and Gravity Gun Episode Two thus far. I sure am excited for the intricate, non-gimmicky and highly varied gameplay of Gravity Gun Episode Three!
I couldnt care less about the gravity gun, in hl2 i only used it when it was absolutely necessary, or when there was no other gun like in the last level. I played hl1 more than hl2, and that one did not have a gravity gun. I played hl2 because of the story, the game itself, the game world, and because i've been wanting to see if i can get to the artic pole. Valve gets away with putting a nice shiny coat of paint on mods by 3rd parties, buying them up and renting them, not selling them, on their DRM store. I'm not impressed.

That said in the end all manshoots are very similar, and for that reason perhaps I should not bash Portal 2 for being more Portal. I guess there is something about the general Portal gameplay that doesn't lend itself to long playtime or sequels the way an FPS does.
btw, i think gabe's been eating too many potato sacks, hasnt he?

Again, you haven't played Portal 2 (you said so yourself), so Portal 2's status as an SP game isn't exactly something you can debate. And you certainly wouldn't be calling Portal 2 a "mod" or "3rd party product". Portal 1 and 2 were made entirely in-house. Sure, it used the same CONCEPT as Narbacular Drop. It's like calling Quake a mod because it uses a gun, just like Doom used a gun.
And I'm sick and tired of this "renting, not selling" bullshit. They are selling you a game. You own it. End of story. You can argue semantics all you want, but at the end of the day, it's in your account, your copy is yours alone to play, and even when they de-list games, they still exist in your queue.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.........HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA...HAHAHAHAHA
Dear god go look up the difference between, Game and Mod, followed by Middleware and Game engine.
A Mod takes the code and assets of a game and MODifies them. By your definition every game released in the last 15 years or so is a Mod.
Unreal tournament is a GAME build using the unreal engine. Garysmod is a MOD that uses the code and assets of the halflife games (and can use many assets from other games using the SOURCE engine). Defense of the Ancients is a MOD of Warcraft 3. Mass effect is a GAME that uses the unreal engine.
Another way to think of it Mods require you to own another program to play a game just requires you own the game (yes expansions count as mods)

Warcraft 3 sucks. I don't like strategy but I LOVE rpg's. When I try to play with only my hero the game is impossible.
Modern Warfare sucks. I only play single player and the campaign (while action packed) was done in hours. Waste of money.
DC Universe sucks. I don't have internet...
To fully appreciate (and form an opinion) you must take into consideration all aspects of the game. The single player is relatively short and (once again Relatively) easy, however the co-op is even longer and more difficult. This aspect was clearly advertised. Critics were quick to ignore certain flaws, however even gems have them. Beautiful Katamari (spellcheck) was based on a gimmick as are many cult favorites that focus on creative gameplay as opposed to blockbuster cliches.
If you have not even played the game go back under your bridge and harrass some goats.

I enjoyed it a lot, and it was clear that a TON of effort went into making sure that every aspect of it was perfect.
However, I just thought the puzzles teetered between easy and monotonous. I'm not trying to claim I'm some uber-intelligent superhuman or anything, but surely other people were a little put off by the fact that they repeated a lot of solution elements between puzzles? Also, I thought the experience drug a little during the long stretches of closed-chamber testing.
And maybe I'm just a little annoyed because I "messed up" the ending. But I won't spoil the specifics of that because the ending really is a treat.
Overall, 9/10. I still liked it a lot, but I have to say I was disappointed with a few things.
EDIT: Disclaimer, I haven't played the co-op mode yet. I plan to in a week or two once my friend finally buys his copy. I've just talked about the single-player here.

One thing that I have heard complaints about but that I really appreaciate is the lack of memes. This was in fact intentional. While there were tons of memorable moments in Portal, the developers stated that they tired of the memes before everyone else (they wrote the stuff) and tried to avoid acknowledging previous ones and create new ones. You see more I <3 Campanion Cube/Cake is a Lie in bathroom stalls than penis's (not a real complaint there).
Do expect plush turrets, though.
Please disregard the following: If they were to make a talking model w/ laser sight that would be sweeeeeeeet.

My apologies for perhaps a childish/immature comment but...
Since when did Chel have such HUGE lips?
