Gods be praised, the Witcher!

Geralt of Rivia, the elixir-driven slayer of the beasts, the non-altruistic hero of the folk, the ever-rebellious troublemaker, and the rugged woman-charmer might be the most mesmerizing character ever to grace the screens of cRPG gamers. If you--by some cruel twist of fate--missed the second part of his thrilling adventures, we have great news for you. [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_witcher_2]The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, Enhanced Edition--the non-linear gritty and mature action-RPG-- has, as of now, its price reduced to $29.99/€29.99/GBP19.99/AUD29.99. (The fair price package for Europe includes one $9.99 extra game). If you are a cRPG fan you're now left with little excuse not to experience the game described by 1UP as "one of the most memorable and best written fantasy video games you'll ever play".

A devious scheme is in the works, leading the land towards anarchy, civil war, and reign of hatred. Someone is assassinating one province's king by another. The high and mighty heads--those more, and those less worthy of a crown--are rolling alike. And whenever such things start to happen the Witcher Geralt of Rivia proves to be the perfect scapegoat. Life's just a perfect bitch for him that way. So once again persecuted and hunted, tossed between the elven rock and the royal hard place, falling out of the frying pan of wicked politics and into the fire of mischievous magic, the White Wolf has to fight for what he believes is right. But the distinction between right and wrong is often very hard to make

The most enthralling, seasoned, and elaborate cRPG experience of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, Enhanced Edition awaits you, now for only $29.99/€29.99/GBP19.99/AUD29.99!

Gilou: I tried the demo of the first game and the action was not dynamic - I did not enjoy the fighting system. How is it in TW2?
It's more dynamic. You have full control of Geralt and his actions, you can block attacks, dodge, throw bombs or daggers, use traps...and of course signs. However it requires some practice. The game is rather hard from the start but later when you'll unlock some necessary skills it plays better and you'll start to enjoy the combat. It's not perfect though, I'm looking forward to combat system improvements in The Witcher 3 :).

But despite the combat in either, they are both very worth playing.

MichiGen: Wait, there are actually GOGers who doesn't own this game yet?! For me The Witcher franchise on GOG was always something like Half-Life 2 on steam :) almost everyone has it.
I have more than 400 games on GOG, but not this one. I don't buy games, any games, for more than $10, so I guess I'll have to wait for $20 more to drop. No hurry, I have my backlog. And I didn't really like The Witcher anyhow.
Why the price for Europe is higher than the rest of the World?

Isn't CD Projekt Red an european (Polsky) game developer?

So, what is the matter with Europe?

Impressive, so you have almost all games which are available on GOG :) Do you actually want to play them at some point or are you some kind of a collector? I got "only" 126 games here (including some which were released for free) and together with my retail games I'm scared of how big my backlog is.

Namco Bandai sued 'em about the prices, and won. A court degreed that either GOG has to sell it for a higher price or pay some ridiculous fine (I think it was $10000 a day).

/edit: I remembered incorrectly, it was 15 000 € per day: http://www.joystiq.com/2011/12/08/namco-bandai-wins-in-witcher-2-distribution-dispute/
/edit2: disregard what I said and listen to Miaghstir below

No, that was about regional restrictions, where people could set their country to USA and pay that price (and get an uncensored version for Australians and New-Zealanders). That's why they introduced the IP-adress based system to replace the earlier user-setting based one. The fact that New-Zealand DOES have an 18+ rating (unlike Australia) and should get the uncensored version completely flies over Bandai's heads and they get shoved into the same region.

The price is a legal matter too, however, though I do not remember the details. Us Europeans are (or were, at least) getting free games to make up the difference.

Oh, right. I remember I got those fair price package games too back when I preordered it. Thanks for clearing that up.

I both play and collect, although obviously one at a much faster rate than the other. I did play some 30 games on GOG so far (plus tried and didn't like some 30 more). I probably play about an hour a day on average, which is nowhere near fast enough. Alas, one has to work...
This game is well wrth the original price but at this price its a steal.

Thank you - that was clear
This was my #1 2011 game. Just sayin... ;)
Great game & great price!

For the next 12 hours you can get The Witcher 2 on GMG for 22.50 now with the -25% code. Who can resist that? ^^

Kabus: Good time to get if you haven't.

Kabuto: Does it come with extra video memory? :p
Not actually. Maybe GOG can add as bonus content :)
Great game but advice to people with old computers: it's well worth the wait. While its graphics and the type of game doesn't really require best eye candy and performance it sure adds to the experience. ;)
