Yes. She bit me.

Lobsang1979: Some of my friends who own consoles would have reacted in the same way when this struck. Some of them might even have had to attend their university classes because there was nothing else to do.

Yesterday was my first actual day off (I didn't even have any pending work sitting in my inbox!) since Christmas day last year. Needless to say I was a little annoyed that I couldn't play Heavy Rain which I had only bought the day before. But that doesn't mean I'd want to sue Sony over what was simply an unfortunate set of circumstances that they hadn't considered possible beforehand.
I simply found something else to do.
Its childish and stupid to sue them even if it could be argued to be a breach of contract (you fulfil all the obligations of the hardware and software licences and are still denied the benefits you paid for) but you have to admit that them not checking to make sure they got leap years right when coding the core system is pretty fucking stupid and sloppy.
Sure if it was running software on someone else's system that would be more forgiveable since you have to trust that your platform developers did their job but when they've developed their own platform...
Just by curiosity, is is possible to completely disable all this (IMHO) stupid trophy synchronization part ?
Personally I don't give a damn about trophies and all those "community stuff" and appart from downloading a patch from time to time I have absolutely no intention to let my PS3 plugged to the Internet.

Not explicitly for trophies, but you could simply not enable automatic login to PSN (you cant do that accidently as it requires password)

Unless you want to play online (and therefore need games patched up to the latest version) you dont have to ever connect the PS3 to the net. Required Firmware updates for games come included on Blu-Ray.
Anyway, whats the damgae-report on affected systems? as far as I understood the only problem would be loss of trophies that were obtained in the last 1-2 days.
I didn't turn it on yesterday but I did just now and it works fine.
