GoG may think it is beneath them to save the children classics from Humongous Entertainment (or at least there has been no inclinations that they intend to do so) , but there seems to be an unexpected source - the 'casual store' Big Fish.

Yesterday they released the classic "http://www.bigfishgames.com/download-games/24839/putt-putt-saves-the-zoo/index.html[/url]" from 1995. Granted this is probably connected with the iOS and Andriod versions of the same game from 2011, but there are more HG games who have received the same treatment. More and more it seems that there is other players out there just as (or more) intended to revive and maintain the classical games of all genres.

(Yes tfishell, this is thread is partly for you :))

Inevitably I'm going to share my thoughts. ;) I actually heard about this from a post Alfie made in the HE thread.

First (and as I said in the HE thread I don't think Turnipslayerr would mind me saying this), I know that GOG has definitely not rejected the games, as I specifically asked Turnip to be open with me about that. (He did that with another series of games that were rejected.) The games have not appeared, and admittedly probably won't come for some time, because GOG has been busy with higher-priority items. So while these games aren't very important to them, they have not been rejected.

Second, technically the Humongous games have been available on various lesser-known dd services for years, such as Atari's own store, Gamehouse, and probably a few others. (Nimbus has had a PC port of Putt-Putt available for download for months now.) Big Fish makes sense in that these games are "family-friendly" and BF comes across as a family-friendly store, so it's logical that the games would appear there.

I wish Nimbus the best in reaching the children's market with these games (especially on iOS and Android), but I still want the original Scumm games here for the "nostalgia" market.

Third, Putt-Putt is the "sappiest" of the four main Humongous characters; I can understand if GOG would be hesitant about bringing those games. But he part of the four main Humongous franchises, so hopefully they will at least be willing to sneak him in at some point. I do think the PC version of Putt-Putt is overpriced at 9.99, and there's almost no way (understandably) that GOG would bring Zoo here for that. Even 5.99 is pushing it.

I don't know if Nimbus had a certain exclusivity contract with Atari that Tommo is honoring, but my hope is that, in the coming months, GOG is able to make a separate deal with Tommo Inc. to at least bring Pajama Sam, Spy Fox, and Freddi Fish, wrapped in ScummVM and soundtracks included. (I think for some of the older games 2 for 5.99 works, and for the newer ones - the first Pajama Sam and Spy Fox games - 5.99 apiece is reasonable.)
Putt Putt is awesome. That is a fact.

If those games came here, preferably for both Mac and PC, I would buy them for my daughters now both out of college who would enjoy them for the nostalgia. We've actually talked about that not long ago and my youngest got excited about getting to see good old Putt Putt again. They had great fun with "Goes to the Moon" and "Saves the Zoo" and others I am probably forgetting now.

These are absolutely classics that belong here which I think would be welcomed by the many customers who have children.

Come to think of it now, I would love for my little grandson to get to see these too.
