This is what I'm afraid of. That GOG is withholding expanions moslty because they don't want to risk the money involved to make xpacks compatible with vanilla releases...
The legal process behind getting those expansions is, I agree, painstakingly long and I can assure all of you that GOG.com team is as tired and disappointed with this situation as you are. However, in that case, I don’t believe anyone ‘fucked up’.

The process of adding games to our catalog is long and even if EA has clarified things with their lawyers, it doesn’t mean we can release them. Remember that games (especially old games and especially on GOG.com) are not potatoes: dig it, wash it, sell it. Making them run on modern OSes, bundling them with goodies, testing the sh*t out of them, etc. takes time. Currently we’re negotiating the deal, and I can tell you that your support and interest in this particular issue has definitely helped (thanks!).

You’re free to make any assumptions you want, but GOG.com has proven again and again that we never “dump and forget” our releases, even though spending countless hours on research, business negotiations, testing, updating and patching significantly narrows our profit margins. Remember Space Rangers 2 Reboot--which was free? It’s pretty easy to persuade publishers to sell something extra. It’s really hard to convince them to give it away for free--but we’re doing it because this is the way we treat our game(r)s.
Thanks for taking part in that conversation, even after my raging.

It's good to hear that you are working on it, and we can hope with much more confidence now, that EA games expansions will eventually come to GOG.com

It really means much to me, and I'm sure it means as much to the community.

Let's hope you will release them THIS year :P

By the way, I never thought that by resurrecting that topic, we, the community, will get another piece of useful information about that process.

Regards :-)

I'm really glad someone official came out and gave a statement on this - sadly, I don't think this will stop the tide of irrational finger pointing that people love to get into on this topic.

PS: Now you got me interested in checking out Space Rangers 2: Reboot...
I think that nobody seriously thought that those expansion would cost extra.

As GOG doesn't have the right at the moment, I still believe my wide ass guess was right ;-)

That's good sh*t you've posted. ;-) Thank you so much for the transparency and honesty.
Cool. Thanks for the insight, MDyzzle. :) We can be patient, as long as we have at least some idea of what's going on.

No Problem. It's our job to keep you informed.

It is? Did TET get that memo?

MDyzzle's title is "GOG Marketing". TET's title is "GOG Marketer Guy". Since MDyzzle said

I presume the "our" means "Marketing Department". While TET does like to answer our questions, I'm not sure how informed we are by those answers. I still cringe at his answer on a "Can you confirm or deny that X is Y" question, even though his answer was perfectly correct...
(P.S. I know you're joking, and so am I. Or am I?)

Yes, we're the "Marketing Department" but we like to call ourselves "The Ministry of Truth"
