Part survival horror, part detective novel, part action, and part adventure--a must-have for fans of exciting thrillers and sublime story-telling.

Alan Wake, the psychological action thriller, is available now on GOG.com--and it’s on sale for 50% off for a week! That’s only $14.99 for the game and both DLCs until Tuesday, May 15th at 21.59 GMT.

From Remedy, developers of classic Death Rally and Max Payne 1 & 2, comes a third-person shooter described by its creators as combination of "the mind of a psychological thriller,” and "the body of a cinematic action game.” The player controls Alan Wake, author of popular detective fiction, who needs to find his wife in a perfect and fictional--yet nightmarish and dreadfully real--town of Bright Falls. The story is told in episodes in style similar to a mystery TV series, with each episode having its own plot but revealing new piece of the main puzzle as well. The story is filled with endless twists and cliffhangers, there are recap sequences at the beginning of a new episode, closing credits, and a lot of cinematic sequences--all of these combine to create a fantastic “film noir” atmosphere, unique to the world of PC horror games. Fans of The Twilight Zone, Twin Peaks, and Stephen King will find numerous references and inspirations while solving the mystery behind supernatural horrors that infest Bright Falls.

Mr. Wake will walk the streets, find clues, and talk to people during the day; he will fight various enemies during the night. Light is the main weapon in Alan’s fight against the town’s inhabitants who have been possessed by a darkness that transforms them into axe wielding murderers. Enemies are initially impervious to attack, and can only be harmed when exposed to light, coming from your flashlight, flare guns, flares, and environmental sources. Even if you’re not afraid of the dark, the game will keep you on your toes, and once the darkness creeps in you will not want to leave your safely lit havens.

Gripping suspense, intense action, great thriller storytelling, flawless design--yes, Alan Wake is a perfect game. Time magazine named it the best video game of the year, IGN awarded Alan Wake “Best Horror Game”, it has also received numerous nominations for “Best Narrative”, “Best Writing/Story”, and “Best Character” (for Alan Wake).

Grab Alan Wake for the next seven days for only $14.99--and get with the manual, wallpaper, and a number of videos and extra goodies (stay tuned for more extras soon) all for one great price! Expect other great games from Remedy coming in the very near future!
Isn't this 30 bucks on Steam? Nice going, GOG. I'm impressed.

MichaelPalin: WHAAAAAAT? I just sent them a mail telling them that I would not buy the game with DRM. This is, this is like a fucking dream!! Just for that I'm waiting a week to buy it full price

Go Remedy, go!! And thanks a ton gog!!
Well, buy two copies at 15 then, and make a friend (or a stranger) happy. You spend 30 bucks either way.

Whiners.
There actually are some valid points. Majority of GOG users are old fans of games (old as a term of their age and as a term for games they were playing in the past) and such releases are not really expected. I can understand where GOG is going, but that does not give you right to call them whiners.
Unbelievable, good things do come to those who wait. I did not buy this on Steam because I expected to see it down the line on GOG but never I thought it would be this soon and at this price!

Thank you GOG and Remedy, this is awesome! BOUGHT!

Did they ever reply?
OMG! I never saw this coming....for $14.99 it's an absolute steal being drm free and all l even without the DLC. Thank you GOG.

But whatever you do please don't cease to release classic games - so many old games that I would like to get my hands on such as wasteland and the slightly more recent omikron:the nomad soul.

Wow! Way to go GOG! This one really took me by surprise this morning too.

Wishlisted temporarily but I will be buying it before the sale price expires. What a great deal for such a good game!

Great work guys!
Somehow I knew I should wait and not buy it from Steam. Thanks GoG! Bring on the first two Max Payne games now.

Second that. These two gems are ones I haven't purchased digitally anywhere because I am waiting to see them here. Because what's the point to buy a back-up e-version if it has any form of DRM, right? :).

Fantastic game. Now I wish I did not already own it so I could buy it :-)
This is a very, very cool release. Nice work guys.
Man, I did NOT see this release coming. Unfortunately I already own and have recently beat the XBOX 360 version plus I don't have the PC to run this version, so i'll have to pass on this for now, but I HIGHLY recommend this game for anyone that doesn't yet own a copy as it's a great game that was unfortunately overshadowed by Red Dead Redemption when it came out and didn't sell as well on the 360 because of that. One of the best action games i've played in a long time, I REALLY enjoyed it on the 360.

Nope, but they are a mid-size company, I guess they cannot respond to every mail. They're cool now.

it really does, this is digital distribution so it's not as if Alan Wake is occupying shelf-space that might otherwise have housed pong.
