They say the dead know no pain. Things are about to change!

Meet Raziel: a vampire-turned-wraith, who will show you how to have a soul-devouringly good time for just $5.99 on GOG.com

Soul Reaver is technically the second installment in Legacy of Kain series, but practically it’s a beginning of a new adventure. What is important is that the game brought the franchise into 3D and introduced a completely new character while maintaining the uniquely dark and seductive atmosphere. The player controls Raziel, once one of six powerful lieutenants of Kain who was later broken and killed by his former master. Reanimated in the Spectral Realm as a wraith by The Elder God, Raziel serves as the deity's "angel of death" and will not stop unless his five undead vampiric brothers--and Kain himself!--are destroyed.

The gameplay is flawless, fights are violent and gory, and the game requires you to shift in real-time between the material and spectral planes to solve puzzles and defeat monsters. Raziel, the series’ new anti-hero is a character who feels real despite his wraithlike nature. His striking visual appearance (a wrap hiding his jawless face, radiant pupilless eyes, tattered wings, and claws and feet), tragic nature, personality change throughout the game, and his blue symbiotic blade, made him one of the most recognizable characters in gaming history.

Once you get ahold of the Soul Reaver sword, you will never want to stop hacking and slashing, especially for just $5.99 on GOG.com.

Sequiro: Here is how the game originally looked on the PSone

Oh lordy. That is pretty fugly. Yeah, these days I can only take the lowly 320x240 (or similar) when it comes to 2D games because pixel art from way back typically looks just as good today. It definitely doesn't hold true for the early 3D games.

StingingVelvet: And don't give a shit.

FAButzke: The point being?
That they don't care which is more accurate, they care that it feels right in the game. Maybe that is all any of us should care about?

Modern shooters often feel weird with a mouse for me, to be honest. They are designed to be played with a pad.
Great to see GOG releasing Soul Reaver. I already completed the game some months ago from using my PSN account. I''ll be more than happy to buy a copy of all three games once SR2 and Defiance are released.

SR plays best with a controller, but since my PS3 can't play PS2, and a PS2 is simply too expensive just to play SR.

SirPrimalform: Oh come on man, this is exactly the same situation as with the EA EULA that makes reference to Origin. It's just what Squeenix's current EULA looks like (because Deus Ex: HR has in game advertising).
*headdesk*
It's just I hadn't bought a Squeenix game on GOG before Soul Reaver and did not see the EULA (or a mention of the EULA, as it was with EA) until now. It's like you go grocery shopping and they want you to agree to sell your firstborn to alien invaders - unenforceable, but weird as hell.
OMG!!! I hope to all that is unholy you add the rest of the Blood Omen series. The gameplay and especially the storyline are some of the most cherished memories I have playing games! Great job on acquiring this game. Thanks again!!
Yay, finally one of my favourite IPs has arrived at GOG (I say IP instead of game series because I consider the scenario and characters much more powerful than the actual gameplay of any LoK game). I had hoped that the original Blood Omen would be the first one to arrive, though. I hope that there's not gonna be any serious problems with this one - I remember that there had already been legal disputes shortly after its initial release (between Crystal Dynamics and Silicon Knights I believe).

I don't think it does, actually. There were some reports, but they turned out to be wrong.
So when will we see the Blood Omen?
He he, this release brings back memories from the past. I remember playing this a little bit at a friend's house back then. Great game and quite innovative. Wish-listed for now as I'm not able to keep up with GOG's releases lately...
I might just buy this in the next week. Awesome addition.

<.<
Yeah, that's the story I remember, but as far as I know, it turned out to be false. I finished the game without any modifications whatsoever on Steam, and didn't see a single trace of this.

I'm trying to find a source.

EDIT: Can't find anything. But I also cannot find a single report of anyone actually seeing the stuff in-game and not just on the two screenshots floating around. So either they pulled it really quickly, or it never existed in the first place.

bazilisek: ...
There's a good chance it was North America only or something, there's also a good chance they pulled it really quickly. All of the articles I saw seem to be talking about it as "this is happening now" rather than it simply being plans.

EDIT: Anyway the (possibility of) in game adverts in Deus Ex is the reason for that clause and isn't anything to worry about until Human Revolution and games of a similar age hit GOG. :P

Well, gaming journalism and its integrity.

But yes, you are right. The Squeenix EULA on GOG is just as pointless as EA's was. I just wanted to correct this wrong assumption about DXHR. It's actually a brilliant game, and it doesn't deserve this at all.

In game advertising wouldn't have lowered my opinion of the game anyway, just my opinion of Squeenix. ;)

I don't have a computer capable of running it yet so I might as well just wait for GOG to release a GOTY edition in 2020.

p.s. I've had a busy week but expect to be able to catch up with Mafia this evening. <.<;
