A while back I got really stoked on RUSE but didn't get in the closed beta. That said this wonderful RTS which has new game mechanics looks promising and a public beta is out for preload on Steam, to be unlocked on the 9th.
Now, I understand that this game was announced by Ubi a long time ago, but given this new delay announced in January do you think this game will have that Ubi non DRM DRM?
The basic premise for this World War 2 game, if you haven't heard is the ability to deceive the enemy. Sounds simple, but in practise this doesn't mean lying about what you had for breakfast. Radio silence, trying to get into enemy radio channels, making your squad look bigger than they actually are, just cool things to do if you're the stealthy tactician type. It also seems to play like a game of epic World War 2 poker.
EDIT: So it does appear to have Ubisoft's shitty DRM. No surprises there.

Thanks, joined the group and am eagerly awaiting the beta!
I was in closed beta and didn't like the game very much. There was no tutorial on closed beta and there was no option to play with the AI. Game is complicated and you must enter the game without knowing the mechanics and that was terrible because the one one the other side knows the game and defeat you quickly. Anyway you could watch videos of the game too to learn but I didn't. I hope this beta has tutorial or skirmish with the AI.
Ubisoft = No purchase
I saw the teaser and it looked mildly interesting, but I'm not all that big of an RTS person (except Starcraft & C&C).

I think this game will only use Steam DRM. Because it has Steam Achievements and Leaderboards on it (on closed beta at least).

That would be nice, but Ubisoft seems to like double-dipping DRMs. Assassin's Creed 2 has it's insane DRM on top of Steam's.

Well can't be too careful, eh?

But this game is using Steamworks for matchmaking and stats. I don't think they will use 3rd party DRM.
I've got it preloaded. Curious to see what the game is actually like.
All ready..
Wish I had a touch screen for it..

What's your Steam name? If it does indeed use Steamworks for matchmaking it would be cool to play with other GOG community people.
Excuse me while I exercise my PC pre-ordering policy (don't unless you know what DRM it has, unless it's a Valve game in which case it will obviously be Steamworks).

It's a free preload, dude. It's a beta.

I realise. And my computer can't run it anyway.
