Looks about a bazillion times more fun than Grand Theft Auto IV.

Given Volition's recent promise to treat the PC as an equal gaming platform (which I believe with how awesome Red Faction Armageddon turned out), this is becoming one of my most anticipated games of the year.
Saints Row 2 was certainly more fun than GTA IV but it has nowhere near the writing or the wit of GTA. Everytime I load up SR2 I find myself wanting to play GTA IV instead. The one thing that admittedly impressive video doesn't show is any of the story which is what I am interested in.
i like the fact that its going to be an open world game but 75% of the story missions will take place in instanced areas so they can go nuts with the mission environments without worrying how theyll fit into an explorable city
My god that looks epic. I want it right now.

Was the complete opposite for me. Never really gotten into the main character and his story in GTA4, but really enjoyed the story of SR2, which also had more "woah" and "hell yeah" effects for me - like the punishment and death of one of your gangmembers, dragged on a chain behind a car through the city or your follow-up answer with the leaders girlfriend and the monstertruck arena....
I always thought of SR2 being a lot closer to GTA:SA (still my favourit) then GTA4.

The botched console menu / pulled PC support of SR2 holds me back on getting this one on release day. But will definitely get and enjoy it.

SR2 was a late port but SR3 is a simultaneous release. This gives hope that it has received more attention this time around.

Not only that but the PC port of Saints Row 2 was outsourced to a little Polish company called CD Projekt. SR3 is acutally being made for PC by Volition so we can at least expect it will be better than the awful SR2 port.

Hopefully SR3 works better on the PC. I really liked SR2 but it had a really nasty habit of completely locking up my PC within two minutes of gameplay.

Download the Gentlemen of the Row mod here it vastly improves stability, adds more content and even gives you the option of displaying the Xbox360 controller prompts if you play with one.

You do know who CD Projekt is right?

Absolutely no idea can you clue me in?

*goes to play The Witcher 2*
Volition did a great job porting Red Faction Armageddon themselves. I expect SR3 to play great on the PC.
Alright, so the game is out...and here's what's wrong with the game and the problems it has

8 radio stations with a ton less music. (SR2 had 10 and SR1 had 12.)
cut Evil Cars and other cheats for paid DLC
cut Pimp Cane for paid DLC
no way to replay missions(There was a theater in SR2 that let you replay old missions)
no customizable walks
no customizable fighting styles
no phone numbers to call
no taxi warps
shitty 2 player co-op netcode
no multiplayer like SR1 and SR2
no in game mini games like Zombie Uprising or video Poker or Blackjack
whored mode is poorly designed unfun garbage(it could have been at least 4 players but noooo)

This is just scraping the surface. There is a ton of stuff big and small missing from SR3 like day and night cycles.

Not to mention all of the activities besides the Genki SERC activity are horrible uninspired garbage or just stolen from SR1/SR2. It offends me since I've been doing Insurance Fraud since Saints Row 1. Yet I would have forgiven this if they at least brought back my favorites from SR2. Like FUZZ, Crowd Control, Fight Club, Septic Avenger and Demolition Derby. BUT NOPE

Since they already confirmed that this game will have DLC out of the ass just avoid this for now and wait for the "GOTY" Edition later, at the moment this is not worth your money

Roman5: snip
Thanks for that, saved me some money.
Despite all of that, would you recommend it to someone who hasn't played the prequels?
I touched SR2 for about two hours but felt that it was wayyyy too rough around the edges to be enjoyable.

Smells like the inevitable "Game of the Year" version is the way to go.
