Definitely great news! Been close to ordering them for a few days now.
Only thing holding me back is how much trouble im going to have getting them working. Dos box makes me a little uneasy.

The reason to buy from GOG is that they make it work with no trouble on your end. It will install and place a shortcut on your desktop and you will never have to do anything, GOG preconfigures dosBox.
Also, if anyone hasn't gotten Descent and doesn't get it now, they should have their account revoked.

Nothing for me this week it seems. Might go ahead and get someone to gift me Blood and spend my weekend playing Deus Ex.

Descent 1+2 are top-drawer first-person shooters. I'm not a big fan of the third game, but the first two are near, if not at, the top of the old-school corridor-shooter heap. Any genre fan should play them.

I liked Descent because it´s basically a FPS with more freedom of moviment, if Freespace is a space sim, I will pass, thanks for the explanation

Retail CD versions of Descent I & II: The Definitive Collection, Descent 3 + Mercenary expansion in one of Interplay's dual-jewel packs, and Freespace 1 + Silent Threat in another dual-jewel pack. GOG purchase of Freespace 2 when they were doing the buy-one-get-one-free sale on Interplay games.
Still, for those of you who don't, what are you waiting for?
Also, if you're concerned about not having a joystick, I wouldn't worry about it too much because the mouse works great for pitch and yaw. Movement would be done just like an FPS-E and D (or W and S for most of you) for forward/back, S and F (A and D) for sliding left/right in Descent or rolling left/right in Freespace, W and R for rolling left/right in Descent, and Space and Left Ctrl for sliding up/down in Descent. Not that hard, really, though you'll have to go in and do some rebinding.

Plus you can install, then copy the data files to a D2X-XL installation, and get gorgeous multiplatform support too.

I guess I'm in for the set. I have the S3 ViRGE version of Descent, but I haven't used it since I got the Orchid Righteous 3D back in '98. Ahh, memories.

Darn... the only ones I don't have is Descent 2 and the Freespaces... I have one of the Special Edition Descent discs that included the 200 someodd maps from the major map creation contest.

I own all the games in the promo, but I would like to use this opportunity to gift the Freespace games to a friend who has never played them. Unfortunately, I'm unable to use the promo discount when gifting those games. Am I missing something, or is the promo unavailable for gifted games?

Unfortunately that's just the way the system currently works; Gifting games will always be based on regular price.
