+1. That's exactly what I thought when I read this Sega news.
So I kept thinking if the next publisher on GOG could be Sega or not. If GOG adopts a $1.99 price tag (for the 1980s games and these from Sega), this would be a blast... but the problem here is being a drm-free site.
The press release on IGN says: "The first set of SEGA Genesis games for PC are set to release 1st June on Steam and other digital distribution networks. "
They may not like it, but now they are two times on PC:

I did write a fairly long reply, but the forum crapped out on me and ate it. So I'll just restate that yes, SEGA Japan, along with all other Japanese publishers, refuse to support the PC locally.
In regards to Steam and SEGA, typical support for Japan is as follows: Two games are available: Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing and Universe at War: Earth Assault. One DLC is available (via the current Sega Complete pack): Napoleon: Total War - Coalition (not priced)
The base game for that DLC is NOT available. The Total War Mega pack consisted of nothing except a $20.40 price tag.
So, with these signs of amazing support for Japan by SEGA Japan, it's safe to say that there's pretty much zero chance of GOG being able to get worldwide release for their games, so unless GOG are now prepared to allow regional restrictions here, you'll probably never see any SEGA games on GOG.

That was literally the best thing they ever did for the PC aside from Sonic 3 & Knuckles Collection and Sonic R.

I'd prefer to have the arcade, original versions of Sega's games, instead. Anyway that's nice, at least they are starting to get serious about commercial retrogaming on the PC. To have the ability to purchase and download original ROMs for my MAME would be the best....

Apart from the Shadow Ron bit, I take it? While I'm sure it's possible to base a game on the exploits of Ron The Midnight Flasher, I don't remember it appearing on Megadrive.

It's also part of the Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection (Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection in the US) for 360 and PS3, as well as the early Mega Drive Collectiion on PS2 and PSP.

God, I hate to admit it. But I'm really starting to miss the last console gen. Plenty of compilations consisting of 10 - 20 games costing $19.99 each (even less on clearance). Now these games are being sold via dd individually for $3 - $8 (depending on where you are buying).

There was a massive Sega collection on Xbox and PS3 for $30 actually.

If they re-released the smash packs I would LOVE it. Shining Force 1 and 2 are still my favorite strategy games ever.

True that...story was engaging, although 2 was definitely harder than 1.

Shining Force 3 part 3 was easily the hardest of the lot as there was no ENG translation.

Nothing a ROM and google can't fix. There is a fan translation floating around.
