You're absolutely right, but it's not as easy as "this publisher is on board, so we can automatically publish and sell every single one of their classics". Lots of oldies are in publishing hell, even though they supposedly "belong" to a single publisher already on GOG. Other titles the publisher just won't allow GOG to sell, even others are troublesome for the GOG tech guys to get to work on modern machines -- one of the blues claimed some classic games take months to get to work properly, a lot are still being worked on since GOG got the rights to sell them. It's not as easy as "we're friends, so let me publish your classic games, because our user base craves more classics!" "Oh, OK." I wish it was, but it isn't..

I don't know about the Amiga version, but there's really very little difference between the Windows version and the DOS one. Even the movement is practically the same.

IF the game ever comes to GOG (and I really, really hope it does), there's no way it will be anything but the DOS version. I have a physical copy of the Windows port and it's impossible to get running on a modern OS, because it's a 16-bit application. This isn't a case like SimCity 2000, where only the original installer causes the problem, while the game itself actually runs on a 64-bit system. Here, it's the game itself.

So, unless GOG decides to introduce emulated Amiga titles to the catalog, it'll be the DOS one. And that would be perfectly fine.

Basicaly what he said is that in 2013 classic were still gog's core business (indies are in the beginning stage) and it's going to change in the future where newer and newest games will take over.
Mabye someone with better english knowledge would give more accurate translaton.
GOG should bring the SNES version and buy out the Nintendo Virtual Console. :L

I wouldn't feel so worried. It's not like they're giving up on classics, it's just that those from the '80s and '90s are harder to sign, mostly due to licensing issues and this was expected as time passes, others have compatibility problems and some others have stubborn rights holders that won't embrace DRM-free.

And if/ when at some point the release of classic slows down, it won't exactly be GOG's fault, will it now? At least you can be sure, that if they're not coming to GOG, you won't be able to get them DRM-free elsewhere either.
Definitely. I played that game at a friend's house and was fascinated by it for a long time after even though I only got to play it once.

I didn't even know there was a Windows version of SimCity 2000. I started gaming on Windows 95 but only ever had the DOS version of SC2000.

Are you sure about that? Isn't the maximum resolution 640x480 (or perhaps 640x400) in both versions of DK?
