Almak: How long did it take you to get a hold of the mechanics? The reason I'm asking is because it all seems to be a bit overwhelming to me so far.
Just one match, actually. The manual is very helpful, although I sure wish they'd added a contents page. Just explore all menus and click on every shiny button and you'll get it quickly. This guy has promised to write a tutorial as he did with Armageddon Empires: http://dubiousquality.blogspot.com/2009/11/solium-infernium-coverage-notes.html
Zeewolf: The developer answered this at his forum.
"I'm using a new system that I created in cooperation with a defense contractor/think tank that I can't name. It consists of a DNA sample that is sent in to a laboratory after you purchase the game... you have to wait about a week before you can activate your game but that's not a big deal....the real tough part that I'm going to have in selling this is the USB device that you have to buy to read a small blood sample that you have to give up each time you want to play. I'm also worried about lawsuits from people if they bleed themselves dry, anemia that type of thing."
Also, plain serial code activation (no online check needed).
I also loved the way they announced the release date: "I am planning at this point to have Solium Infernum available for a demo and purchase on Wednesday. I can’t tell you exactly when on Wednesday at this point but it looks like I should have the manual done and all the files including the demo uploaded by then…as well as the website updated that day."
Compare to those MW2 midnight launch parties. Ah, if all developers would be like this. What a beautiful world...
