Hey I have a non game related question. BUT IT WILL SPOIL THE ENDING OF GRAVITY SO DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT IT SPOILED ;)

My wife is developing a real hatred for movies with bad endings. Not bad as in predictable but bad endings as in non-happy endings. It's getting so bad that she doesn't even want to go to a movie if she thinks just by seeing the trailer that it has a bad ending. She say's: When i go to the movie theatre I want to be entertained, not depressed.

So the movie in question: GRAVITY. I really want to see it with my wife but she doesn't want to go because she says judging by the trailer at least one of them will not make it. So my question and please try to answer without spoiling it in detail ( a yes or no wether she would like the ending will suffice): Does this movie have a happy ending??/ Does both Bullock and Clooney survive?

If your wife hate bad ending then she will hate the concept of Bittersweet ending trope then.

I've seen it, and it's AWESOME! literally the best movie I've seen in like 5 years :)

but regarding the happy/bad ending - it depends how much should I spoil... but in general, it ends GOOD!

George Clooney dies pretty early, Sandra Bullock survives. It definitely feels like a happy ending.

Well, he doesn't die right at the beginning, but about 1/3 into the movie. You never learn very much about his character, though. The fact that Sandra Bullock is all alone after he's gone is probably more upsetting than his death (which you never see, btw).

Yeah it will be fine. I actually predicted this after seeing the trailer so we discussed this scenario and she would be okay with this. Luckily.

That scene bothered me the most, because it made no physical sense. Their momentum had completely stopped, there should have been no force pulling him away from her. All she had to do was give him a tug and he'd float back to her. Instead he unlatches himself and drifts away for no discernible reason. <Sigh>

there's been a lot of discussion about this: maybe ISS rotated a bit so the force made them move away from the ship all the way... maybe the ropes of the parachute are flexible and as he sees she's slipping (and would eventually loose her grip) he unmounts himself for he to being forced back... anyhow, it's really not a good idea to go see the movie with a space scientist - it's a movie, after all, and it does its "thing" the best way imaginable, to mediate the feeling of being in outer space... just for this single fact I truly love the movie
good for you both - I've just seen it for the second time (first in 2D, now in 3D) and it was still awesome :) it really brings an experience you couldn't get anywhere else until now :o)
