jamyskis: That title just...sucks. I mean, I know the original titles of the six films were corny (in the case of the original trilogy) or designed to be corny (in the case of the prequel trilogy), but this just sounds like some YouTube fan film or one of those Expanded Universe fanfic books.

I'm also curious why they dropped the Episode VII.

And the title is going to be interesting to translate into German: "Die Macht Erwacht". Sounds horrible.

algirdexas699: Oh, and the title would have sounded better, if they had named it Star Wars VII: The Awakening of the Force (those lazy Americans with their "easier" grammar...(no offense)). It has a better ring to it in my opinion. Thoughts?
I'm not sure. Now I'm thinking about someone rudely kicking the force out of bed or something.

My choice would be Star Wars: The Awakening.
Inspired by one of the worst films ever made. If you've seen you know which I'm talking about. :)

Edit: I noticed it can also remind, or rather does more remind you of the good one in the series.

By saying "The Awakening of the Force would have sounded better" I meant that it just sounds better than The Force Awakens. The title is still bad :D And your observation about "the kicking out of bed" made me smile and laugh (inside though) :D

And were you referring to the 2011 horror film The Awakening?

Nope. Something more swordish and off with their headish. ;)

My expectations are low and I have not decided I will see it when released. Star Wars 1 - 2 were horrible. So bad, they could have renamed them Star Wars: The Force makes you feel like you wasted your money. Star Wars 3 was fair. Considering Disney is making the new one, there is a new hope (pun intended). They did a great job with Pirates of the Caribbean, and the sequels thereafter were not bad. The Lone Ranger was an epic disaster. They destroyed that one and kept it no where near the serials or television shows which upset the fans. John Carter was not marketed correctly, so that flopped. How will Disney do on this one? Considering how much they purchased the franchise for, I hope they do well.

Side note: Does anyone know why it is a December release? Aren't they usually released in May?

I have to say it. I at least thought Star Wars Episode 2 is better than 1 at least 2 felt more focused and I thought the CG effects there were better.

Infact I say 2 and 3 are the only good ones of the prequals. If only you combine them with the 2003 Clone Wars Animated Mini Series in between them:

Makes for a big epic story imo.

Sounds like the first teaser for it will be hitting the webs this Friday. Keep an eye out for it... will be here soon. Only 88 seconds, but that should be enough to wet some appetites post turkey day feast.

Whether the new movies will rock or suck, either way, this holiday season Star Wars stuff is a pretty cool thing. Much better than the May dates. I remember when they re-released Empire Strikes Back in the winter of '80. Most awesome time ever.

Until then, here's the special edition ESB trailer. Saw it during the opening weekend of ANH. Once that trailer ended, the entire theater stood up and gave a round of applause.

That was before the dark times, before the prequels.
