For a term-end project, we're supposed to write an essay based on an activity involving teh intarwebz. The activity can include anything ranging from Facebook whoring to playing an MMORPG, but it has to be something I've never done before. So here I was, thinking what activity to carry out. In fact, I was planning to play an MMORPG, like Minecraft or Wurm Online or Darkwind, but I decided it was too much trouble. I really badly wanted to play EVE though, but I'm running on a backup graphics card right now.
So I'm back to square one...and then a little voice in my head said "why not an LP dude?" And hey, what a great idea. An LP involving the community. I've done this before, but it's still a relatively new experience for me, so why not?
Only this time, I've decided to try for something that involves more of the community. I'm choosing a singleplayer game that allows for multiple choices. So, I have the following games in mind:
- Fallout 1 or 2
- Arcanum
- Planescape Torment
- Deus Ex
- Jagged Alliance 2
- KOTOR
- Baldur's Gate
- Betrayal at Krondor
- Master of Orion 2
- King of Dragon Pass
- Din's Curse
- Vampire Bloodlines
So, everyone's welcome to participate. You can start off by casting your vote for which game to LP. I'm also open to more suggestions. Do bear in mind, though, that I'm using a Geforce 7300LE, which means I can't play graphics intensive games like Mass Effect.
Just to be clear, the project is about me participating on the Internet, and writing about the experience. So, don't be shy to participate in the LP. Give your feedback, decide what happens next in the LP, basically just have fun!

Just go and play Minecraft.
But if you're that set on doing an LP I'd say Deus Ex. Because I'm stuck in the middle of the game.

Well it's Java. It crashes everyone's browser.
I vote for king of dragons pass.
Now while you go and slay that dragon king of dragons pass....
I will say right here waiting for the good news about the death of you or the dragon.
I don;t care which a undead minion is a undead minion.
Well if you want a game with variation but with a strong story, bloodlines would be hard to beat
In what way are the community involved, are you wanting people to play parts of the game or tell you the decisions to make when you're playing it?
Updated first post with number of votes
Deus Ex is probably the most interesting one from an essay-writing standpoint, being the most open-ended of the games.
I don't think Planescape or Vampire would be very interesting as LPs if you have to write an essay from the material. I also don't think the lesser-scoped games would suffice.
Baldur's Gate maybe, if you can actually manage to finish it by the time you have to turn in the paper ... or Arcanum, which is also very open-ended.
But my vote is for Deus Ex.

The latter, just to clarify. I'll put up screenshot with every post, and you guys decide what happens next. I'll probably just pick the most popular choice for the next course of action.
I'd say go for vampire. There's enough choices in the game that you'll get a lot of variation and its short enough so you might actually finish it
Alright so Deus Ex is currently leading the list. By the way, those of you who vote have to participate :P lol nah, but it'll be nice if everyone participates.
I say Deus Ex, it's an older game, pretty solid, well known and has plenty of choices for the community. Vampire gets a bit combat heavy and chuggy near the end, not too sure how well the 7300LE would handle it, but it's a good second option.
Is deus ex fully voiced though? I'd think that would be pretty well essential for a watchable video

It's gonna be a screenshotted LP though.
Actually, what does the community think of doing a Fallout LP, with the character's stats being 1 for everything but Endurance?
-edit- Upon consideration, I think a series of videos for the LP is better...hmm let me think it through....

All characters are fully voiced. Though the various data terminals, newspapers and so on are just text.
