Fuck that, this series deserves it’s own thread.

Alright, so Stranded I and II [the website] are First Person sandbox games that take place on a deserted island where you play as a castaway who tries to survive. It was first published in 2003 by a group of German hobby Indie game developers.

The gameplay revolves around gathering nourishment, fending off the wildlife, gathering resources to build tools and constantly evolving your skills and your equipment until you are ready to leave that damn island. The game comes with a hilarious story mode and a freeplay mode. It is also possible to use mods and create your own adventures.

Some of the features of Stranded II (which I recommend playing first):
• huge world
• more than 100 combinable items
• many buildings and vehicles
• life simulation (day and night cycles, weather, wildlife, needs such as hunger, thirst and rest, ...)

If you like Minecraft I think you will like this game as well. I don’t know if Minecraft was influenced by this but I could imagine it. The second part is available in English.

I absolutely love this game. Sure, the graphics are nothing special but the feeling of this game is unique. Great to kill some time.

Looks very basic but it is an older indie game, the first ones in German yeah?

Bookmarked it anyway
Played Stranded 2 a while ago, and quite liked it though I was at a complete loss as to what could and what couldn't be combined. Eventually gave up after loads and loads of deaths and being lost. But great idea, and in spite of basic graphics works quite well.

Really? Despite the introduction? Imho most things were pretty plausible.

Indeed most were plausible but I just had a problem imagining what kind of things I could build to help me.

I think I must've played a lite version though, because there wasn't much in the way of intro in the game.
With introduction I meant the diary entries that gave you tips on what to do.
