This is such a great looking interface, it makes me wish I could add to it. Imagine a PC set up for just gaming, that booted up to the GOG virtual game shelf, and let you pick any game you wanted to play. If you didn't get the game from GOG, you could manually add it to the shelf. Even if there was a "shelf unlock" fee or something for like $5.99, I would SO pay it.
Love GOG, you guys really do rock!
Well you could set up an active desktop style thing and use similar code. Not sure if windows can use more than basic html as a desktop though

I'm pretty sure it can do anything Internet Explorer can. At least I'm pretty sure it was the same engine back in Win98, haven't actually used the function since then, even to see if it still works.
Suppose an easy test would be to try and use phpinfo and see if that works

Oh man, I remember Active Desktop... the worst idea to come out of Microsoft since WebTV.
Well the concept was good but the implementation was always pretty crap
Some added features wouldn't hurt though. Like some means of sorting them, besides manually drag dropping.

That's been in the work department for... how long again? I'm hoping for a special christmas present.
Why not a stand-alone application? Same as people do it for MAME cabinet PCs. Just a nicely looking, full-screen, configurable menu application. Should be easy enough to do. Add an online database of little cover images and basic game info. Maybe a function to search for installed games automatically (based on recognising certain registry keys or files). There's lots of the kind for emulators, but nothing really fancy for PC games.
Anyone wanna start an open-source project? :)

Should be easy to make, simple HTA framework to contain the page code, minor modification to the menu popup for each game to add a run option if the game is installed (probably have to scan the registry to find the game install path), maybe add an option to play the game soundtrack if they're extracted to a specified path (say \gamename\gogextras\soundtrack)

Well, the only announcement about a shelf update I know of was an April fools joke.
Well, here's my new and improved game shelf. You can have an app for dusting and stacking, but I rarely use them at all :)
Also note: about 30% of the collection. I am proud and I'm not proud.

Wow, what a coincidence, I use the same... ahem... "ordering" system :D
Edit: I also use it for my music CDs. Note that the "shelf" is my floor...

On the plus side, if we survive the global apocalypse, we can use our +3000€ worth of gaming/music material to build a wall to keep out the huns.
I like the launcher idea. I used to have a MAME cabinet, wonder if any of the front ends for it could be made to launch PC games? And have a nice GIU.
