My first day here..
I wanted to get The Longest Journey.. but it says it works on xp AND 8.. no Windows 7. Can it be, or you just didnt write it?

2 more newbie questions: Can I download in chunks? (example: 1GB a day for 4 days for a 4gb GAME.
And, if I change my Hard Disk, how can I keep my games?

Don't know for this one, but I'd assume it's an oversight. Wait for confirmation though.

If you use the GOG DLer, I believe you can pause the DL and continue later. Alternately, you can DL through your browser and just choose the separate files. No need to grab them all at once.

If you change your HD, you can either DL the game again (the games stay in your account for good) or you can back up the files on another disc, thumb drive, DVD, etc. and just reload it onto your new HDD. There's no DRM on the games at all, so no need to be connected to the internet or sign in with serial numbers*, etc.

*with a few exceptions for multiplayer where the use of a serial is embedded in the game code

Confirmation by whom? I just can't wait to play that game :D

So for multiplayer games, what can I do if I change Hard Disk? I just want to use games for me, not to share with others, to be clear :D

From GOG or someone that's played it on Win7.

I think you misunderstand me on this one - my fault. I probably provided more info than necessary. You'd only need the serial if you want to play multiplayer. And it's still DRM-free so you can just install it on the new drive and use the same serial key anyway if you decide you want to go for multiplayer at some point.

Thanks! :)

I am browsing many games and I'll try to notice if there is any other one working on Win 8 but not on 7.

What GOG mean by that isn't that Longest Journey will detect Windows 7 and say "Nope, sorry, can't run". What they mean is that they can't guarantee that it will work on all possible combinations of Windows 7. It might and it might not work; you should proceed with caution. Some other games, like Red Baron Pack, can run on Windows 8, but not on Windows 7.

Large games (over 2 GBs) already come in chunks, so yes you can.

Well.. I read on.. GOG's rival's site of people running the game on Win 7 fine, others having problems.
And because I see if the game doesn't work because I don't follow system requirements I won't be refunded (hateful policy, very annoying) I will look for another way to play it.

People have also reported running the game fine here, but it's still not a 100% guarantee. Speaking of refunds, you will most certainly not get them with Steam.

That's sure. And one of reasons I hope to do my purchases from here, and not from there.
I am no computer expert, and sincerely wonder how and why it can work on some pcs and not on others lol.
Just downloaded it, it works fine for me n Win 7,
This post is to share what I learned.

You are allowed to laugh, but this is my first build and first ciomputer, and I found no game was working because I had.. ehm.. not downloaded graphics drivers for my integrated video card.

After that, the retail original CD of the game I bought in 2006 and waited 8 years to be used perfectly worked, there was no need to buy from GOG.

At least you got to play the game, and you likely learned a couple things in the process. I would count both of those as awesome.

Why, WHY when you first install a new build you dont see a warning like "download your drivers", and you get Microsoft Updates warnings every minute? :))
Yes it was good in the end thank you
