I liked Renegade!

StingingVelvet: You know nothing about the quality of this game yet though. You're acting purely on preconception based on some kind of grievance.

EA release a lot of games and Starbreeze have a lot of talent, so I am pretty optimistic here. Compared to Ubisoft, Activision and THQ EA is like a freaking quality machine if you ask me.
Did you play that abomination?

I also recall a game called Dragon Age 2 being such an offender and Spore was a total mess.

jdyer1012: At least this one got the concept right instead of XCOM.

Navagon: Name me one way in which they got the concept right, other than setting it in the future.

Navagon: Or maybe it's because the game's description - you know, the one provided by EA - has absolutely fuck all to do with Syndicate and everything to do with clichéd corridor shooting bollocks.
Look at one of the sceenshots and you will see the Eurocorp logo. And at least in this game, we are not fighting geometric shapes.

Oh wow, really? Well it must be a true sequel after all then.
Didn't really expect those screens being so deus ex.
Well, if it is even half as good, then it's propably good buy from a -60% sale.

It's more faithful than XCOM.

XCOM focusses on thwarting an alien invasion by turning their own technology against them.
Syndicate is about an agent with free will going on a revenge-fuelled personal crusade.

So no. I have to disagree with that. XCOM might have gone first person and dumbed everything tactical about the game down to a borderline retarded level. But it does at least bear some small trace of similarity. At least they're trying to represent the non-combat aspects of the originals. There's no indication of that with Syndicate.

Exactly, in Syndicate you are supposed to be a syndicate operative remote controlling a group of nameless (except for codename) abducted/brain washed/reprogrammed agents, not some prototype agent with a dark past seeking revenge.

It's like if they decided to make a Dungeon Keeper III as a visceral FPS in which you play as a goblin seeking redemption... but then again I wouldn't be surprised if such a game was announced soon...

And that means it will be a bad game how?

Renegade was fun! And have you ever played it's MP? Sheer awesome

Because they've stripped out everything that made the Syndicate IP good and replaced it with generic sci-fi shit. You could call this Halo 4 and nobody would be any the wiser. This is basically nothing more than a design by committee, market analysed console-masses-pleaser. They're not interested in making a good game. They're interested in making money. I'd hardly call that a good sign.

My biggest grief with Renegade was that recognizing and exploring the various C&C structures (Hand of Nod, etc...) should have been the highlight of the game but they managed to make it boring, not only all structure were the same, which in itself is understandable given the context, but their internal level design was pretty bland.

If you remove that the game was just an average FPS with a C&C skin. (IMHO of course)

Never tried the multi though.

This will be so generic, I already know the story. You are an agent and you rebel against the corporations. Whole story right there.

....I'd play that.... -_-
