Becuase the Witcher is made by CD Projekt, does that mean in the future we could see that and other games made by them here? Obviously it won't be for a while but I'm just wondering.

Yeah, they've said they'd love to have it on here, it's just a matter of age. Atari (North American publisher) is on board now too...not sure if they would have any say, but nevertheless, there is absolutely no reason we won't have it here eventually. Note The Witcher is their first game.
CDP owns Metropolis Software and one of their games -- Teen Agent -- is here already, and for free. It's no Witcher, but yknow. ;)
Gorky 17 (also by Metropolis) is here also, though courtesy of Topware.

I'm hoping we'll get the Enhanced version here :)
Seems no one can their hands on it right now anywhere. No shops can get it either.

Well, if you can find shops selling the basic version, buy it and download the Enhanced patch from CDProjekt's website: it's free, you just have to create an account, register your game and voilà! more than 1 Gb to download, but it's worth the effort, knowing that in addition, you can have several languages available (like playing the game in its original polish version with english subtitles) and lots of very neat bonuses. That's what I did !
Right - except, when I went to the website a lot of the images etc. were missing - plus I couldn't find a way to register.
Could be of course I wasn't on the right site - can someone provide the correct link?
Well, I went to thewitcher.com, got this page : http://tw1.thewitcher.com/article/en/downloads which redirected me there http://www.sciagnij.pl/programy/0,93888,5675006.html
It's a legit website, because it's linked directly to the official webpage and I remember I downloaded things from there whitout any problem.
Well they've got other 2007 games on here. I don't know if the fact that the EE is 2008 will delay its release further though.

I believe it's more about sales and sale price. When the retail sales dry up and DD price drops near GOG prices, they'll release it here. They may also be waiting for some contract to expire.
And if and when it's released, it'll be the fully patched uncencored director's cut edition obviously.

Only the US ever had the censored version.
As for the price, I've already seen the boxed version for under £8, which is already putting it close to GOG's $10 mark. And that's before you take into account the fact that a DD version has inherently less value, regardless of what the industry seems to think about that.
If The Witcher 2 isn't going to be published by Atari then that must mean that CD Projekt retained full rights. Which means that selling the first game through GOG would net them the full profit, rather than the small fraction they'd usually get. So even now they'd be making more through GOG, even if the price point was lower.

The Directors cut is, AFAIK, the only retail version to come with 1.5 patch preinstalled (EE was 1.4) so obviously they'll use that as it's also uncencored like we in rest of the world got (AFAIK only the previous versions of Witcher were cencored in the US, Directors cut is uncencored)
It's 15,99€ at steam currently. As I pointed out, they may be waiting contract to expire (perhaps with atari). Also best way to use it would be to release Withcer at GOG few months before Withcer 2 release to promote the upcoming sequal.

1.5 is identical to non-US 1.4. Like I said: only the US had a censored version.

That would probably be the best option.

Actually here are the features of patch 1.5:
Modifications:
- copy securities (DRM) are removed
- playing the game no longer requires the game disc in the drive
- patch solves problems with EAX and blurred graphics
Additionally:
- 5 bonus adventures made by the Witcher community: ‘Deceits’, ‘Blight of the Bogs’, ‘Wraiths of Quiet Hamlet’, ‘The Wedding’, ‘Merry Witchmas’.
In order to install patch 1.5 correctly, original Witcher game upgraded to version 1.4 (i.e. The Witcher: Enhanced Edition) should be installed.
The 5 community adventures are available in English language only.

and language packs
Cool thanks,
I've also been wondering if I should get the Witcher books. Are they a good translation, I can only read English.

Atari is publishing it in North America as before.

Agreed. Wouldn't be surprised if they've already starting thinking about just that.
I'll probably buy it again here just cause...
