As you know, we're already on track of the evil and mysterious Dr.M. We've hacked his tracking device and using it to locate him and the briefcase with the secret "growth formula". Thanks to our extensive research for Dr.M., we've found a Twitter account called TheEvilDrM which might be our arch-nemesis' "official Twitter account". Follow him if you have enough courage and maybe he'll give some hints what he's up to next!

Minecraft DRM comes into play when you are trying to play a LAN game. Because the server can't authenticate you, you get logged in with "Player" and when the second person logs in, it kicks the first out.

Rather annoying when you want to play LAN Minecraft because your internet connection is down..

Zabinatrix: Require is a bit of a strong word, isn't it? I've lost internet connection a few times before starting Minecraft, and all that happens is that a button labeled "Play Offline" appears. Never had any problems playing Minecraft single player when I haven't had the ability to log in to my account.
Thanks for proving me wrong. My connection is stable so I'm not inconvenienced by it, but I get slightly annoyed at the requirement.

As I suspect, GOG won't catch Dr. M yet, as there are still 4 more big publishers to go, so they will only recover the briefcase, and Dr. M will escape.

I was wondering though, where will he hide. And now I have the answer - he'll stay at notch :D

Of course, this now means we can endlessly badger the resident super villain on his Twitter account. :)
Well, at least this teaser is entertaining, even if the wait is killing me.

Actually with the latest update Notch added a "call home" feature for SP mode as well [you can see it in the screenshot linked in his tweet to TheEvilDrM]. It doesn't do anything but instill a sense of guilt [as far as he has released at least] by telling you that your copy is unlicensed. As far as DRM goes it is pretty light weight (going by the release notes at least - it will not limit functionality, but will call you on your morals with the text blurb in the upper left)

That's.. annoying because my "copy" wouldn't be unlicensed :P

What does bother me is not being able to play within my own network when the authentication servers aren't contactable. That's DRM-esque. "-esque" because I don't think it was intentionally built to do that... just a side-effect to how offline mode is handled.
You know, I bet out of all of the companies left thus far, it probably has to be EA. Dr. M. has mentioned SOOO much about DRM, and how DRM affects the market and blah blah blah... And EA has always been a PAIN when it comes to DRM (look at the EA Download Manager and you'll see what I mean), so I bet that is a very subtle way of saying that the company they've signed is EA.

Granted, it'd be even better if they actually had been able to sign on with ALL of those companies. :P But, I can only dream...
I don't see anything when I follow the link. I don't have a Twitter account... so I guess I just lose out.

You don't need a twitter account to see time lines of other twitter users; Twitter has been having issues with blank timelines now and then as of late though.
Can someone tell my ''what the heck'' is going on? I looks like that some people THINK that the know what is going on, can someone say in short what this mean, so that i get hyped too?

When the countdown is up a new publisher will be announced who is a big name. But who will it be?
