Emob78: Then I'd feel bad for your computer chair. XD
I have a plastic bag underneath :)
You could try RPing as an brawny Argonian fighter-type character with a serious allergy to any type of metal...and an elf fetish (any elf, any kind).
If you've never played the stereotypical two-handed weapon wielding Nord warrior type character with heavy armor, smithing (and restoration) then you're missing out.
Roll a Nord Warrior, install a weather mod like Climates of Tamriel + Frostfall - Hypothermia Camping Survival + Realistic Nights (nexusmods) and enjoy Skyrim like a real man.
Enjoy. :)

Uh, I"m a girl. And I'm playing on a PS3 so no mods. I have been considering a Nord, but was thinking mage nord cause they hate magic.
What happened to you, Louise?

ddickinson made this lovely avatar for me! In a thread from a bit back I turned myself into a parasite and infected my pet T-Rex. So, ta-da! When it comes to acting a fool, I am totally committed.

You can't do that, Louise...

Crewdroog: Male? Female? Argonian mage? Specialty in restoration magic only? Am I so afraid of spiders that I break down into tears and flee? Am I only allowed to add to my health every ten levels, everything else in stamina?
For a male character I like playing a Khajiit spellsword (good levels of single-handed blades, a wide palette of magic, alchemy, light armor, and lore). The night vision is a wonderful extra to possess, though frankly I also really like cats. :)

For a female character I like a Nord barbarian (heavy blunt weapons, agility, survival, stamina). Later on you can Valkyrie her up with some heavy armour and offensive spells, plus those Nord shouts.

Ok, HAL.

Now where is the cord....
I tried to sound like Bob, but HAL works too

I like the Khajiit too :) and night vision is so great.

Emob78: It just ends up kind of pointless having more loot than you know what to do with
Well... Why collect the loot then? At that point, it's really pointless to hold on to anything you won't immediately use.

Personally, I find many such complaints just come from habits we have picked up while playing other RPGs, which however don't quite apply on TES games. They're not centered around getting loot, never have been, and forcing yourself to do so will inevitably make your experience with the games worse.

The last character i created in Skyrim was a neutral good young, pacifist orc priestess that wanted to set out and explore the world. Chose an alternate start (mod) to start in an orc clan stronghold.

Main skills was restoration and two-handed weapons (picked two-handed warhammer because that was the closest to a quarterstaff i could find in Skyrim).

You could try that?

wait, you don't hoard everything in your house? I keep everything with enchantments, even if not pertaining to my character, b/c YOU NEVER KNOW. And I hold onto these cause you never know when you might want to dual wield. My bed is also cluttered with flawless gems. And the BOOKS! I need all of those!

The idea of being a pacifist is fun and talking your way out of stuff has it's merits... But whenever I try to do stuff like that it turns into this, specifically at 1:50 mark. [NSFW: language]

That doesn't mean you can't play it like a a man anyway. :p

A Nord woman works too. Just make sure you get an intimidating war paint like Aela The Huntress.

It's a pity you're on PS3 though. Playing Skyrim without mods is like eating cereal without milk.
