I have been glancing, periodically, at the "David vs. Goliath" thread for the last day or so and I have to say how great it is for the community to rally behind their favourite digital dist. service.
However, talk is cheap. Talk doesn't help us get any closer to "Goliath."
I urge any and all who read this to ignore this weekend's promo....whatever it is and purchase a different title, if you were so inclined to do so in the first place. Purchase a different title at its reg. price.
GOG not only works hard at bringing us great titles on our terms (DRM free, cheap, even cheaper promos, etc..). I think we need a showing of solidarity for them. Let us all just buy any other title at reg. price and back up our praises for this site. Let us see if our ripple in the water can turn into a wave.
I usually buy the promo game (unless I already have it, or it does not interest me of course) AND some full priced one. Admittedly, I did not do this last week with the Syberia promo, but should do so the next time.
All this does though is add to my 'to play' pile though. I need to clone myself at this point.
Whoa, hey now there, Sparky. Nobody tries to reign in my bargain hunting like that.
If GOG's weekend deal has stuff I want, I'll get it. I've already held up to my "if its on GOG I'm not getting it anywhere else" ideal by not buying the commandos pack for 3 bucks or whatever it was, when I get around to buying them it'll be here
Why making it so complicated? If you want to support gog, buy a game. If you want to support gog more, tell your friends or buy and wear a shirt (yeah, shirts only - I hate buttons).
Promos are still a mix of of price differentation and hunting drive, most people buy stuff they are less interested in and normally wouldn't buy. There is nothing bad about it.

I don't mean to imply that there is anything wrong with getting in on a promo. Who doesn't like a bargain? Hell, the more support GOG gets the better we all like it right?
No, I was just referring to the part in "David and Goliath." where the staff states " profit margins are slim." All in all I'm just trying to help generate a little extra revenue for this site beyond what they would normally take in for a promo. That's all.
Time for action, you say? :-P

Hi, I hope my words sounded not to harsh, because I really respect your effort. I just think there are better and easier ways to support. So if gog will give you a good offer, take it and spend the safed money for another game. There will come enough games in the future, so gog will hopefully not run out of games so fast. I believe the badest thing for a shop is if people don't buy ;-)
Also they use the promos to show new publishers how they can skim lower payment reverses to generate a higher total profit. So an effective promo is also good for gog.
