I was just thinking of buying Toca 3 on steam, and then a post on the steam forums reminded me that it got taken off gog a while back because of "licensing issues".
So how come it's still on steam? And not back on GOG if they've figured out the issues?

Possibly the licensing issues may also have had something to do with exclusivity?
But that is just a guess. I did grab it on STEAM, though I never had a chance to get it here on GOG.
Steam very rarely caves in and removes games from sale. Even in the case of Earth 2160, which nobody could play, they still kept selling it.
Maybe the new license holder doesn't like the DRM-free aspect of the GOG version? Eh, nobody knows for sure...

From what I remember (might be wrong), with TOCA and another race game which I don't remember the name, is was not a "licensing issues" but more a licensing requirement : they were allowed to sell TOCA and the other Codemaster game on GoG but only for a limited time, when the time limit was reached they simply remove the game from the catalog.

Is it available worldwide on Steam? As GOG make all games available worldwide if it has any licensing issues in any country it will have to take it down for everyone.
I believe we were given a reason as to why TOCA 3 and Colin McRae 2005 were removed, and if I remember correctly it was some trouble with the car licenses. Steam/Valve may be large enough to throw its weight around and get exceptions.
Yeah, GOG said they didn't get the same deal as Steam or something. Unfortunate cause it's a great game.

Edit: hrm, can't seem to find that statement but I definitely recall it...

Has any other Codemasters game been added to the catalog since the Toca 3/Colin McRae 2005 mess happened? I'm under the impression that we won't have any until that mess is figured out by GOG.

Nope. But Codemasters own mostly licensed titles, so, we probably won't see any more from them for a long time anyway. GOG has indicated they'll be wary of licensed properties as a result of the issue.
