I only played TH Pro 2, and it was awesome. Which I didn't expect at all, as it's not my kind of PC games.
Why are people excited?
This looks fantastic, but I'm a bit confused by the mechanics. One of the reasons I always preferred the original over the sequels was that it didn't have the manuals and reverts, which left the up/down buttons free for other stuff. I felt the addition of it just made things a little too messy. Now I'm reading that this version is some hybrid of the first two, though also with elements of 3 (such as reverts). This all leaves me a bit confused as to how it's going to play, as the first three versions all had a distinctly different feel in terms of controls.

Still, I'm willing to find out for $8.99....

This game was a classic. It came out when I was in my first year of high school, and it was pretty much the only game anyone played that year. It was a very big deal. You might not be into it, but lots of people were :)

THPS1 never actually came out for the PC. What you've linked there is THPS HD, the new Steam one.

And Underground 1 was always an interesting case. It was released for the PC, but only in Australia on disc. Since that time it's disappeared from sight.
It is called Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD, and is an HD updated version containing 7 levels from THPS1 and 2. "(Warehouse, School 2, Mall, Hangar, Venice, Marseille and Phoenix Downhill Jam)". THPS3 levels are coming as a DLC later.
Hilarious, I forgot these even existed...
I loved the first few games, on console; don't think I'd want to play them on pc, though.
played so much TH that i learned all the words to Police Truck by the Dead Kennedys. a song i had heard a hundred time but never really listened to until then...

Tonight's the night that we got the truck
We're goin' downtown gonna beat up drunks
Your turn to drive I'll bring the beer
It's the late, late shift no one to fear
And ride, ride how we ride
We ride, lowride
