I can't answer your question. However, if you like Transport Tycoon Deluxe and want to play it, then you should check out OTTD here. It's an open source remake of the original game and is better than it in just about every way possible.

It also has a very easy way to install new vehicle sets, buildings etc and has online multiplayer. :)

Yeah, OpenTTD is better in every way. You can play it exactly like the original if you want and only use the new features like support for 16:9 resolutions. Like all other new features, you can turn them on and off whenever you want :D
As an avid fan of TTD since its release (nearly 20 years ago, damn...), I would tell you like the others: get OpenTTD, the various supported resolution are a big plus and you can be sure that in 5 years, it will still be fully playable on Windows 8 (9 by then) thanks to the community behind.

You can always buy Locomotion on gog but its reputation is less good (I bought it but never tried it)

I know about this project and I see that last version of OpenTTD does not need of original game (files).

I bought locomotion and almost never play with this.
TTD is best game :)
