Wishbone: Are there any adult games with sexual content that aren't Japanese or pretending to be Japanese?
avatar
Kardwill: Depends. Do you class "coded with RPG maker 2003 with 8 bit RPG look" as "pretending to be japanese"?
You might, since the whole graphic style is a wink to the (very) old JRPGs, although pixel-art is not purely a japanese artstyle.
I would. Pixel art is not a "style" as such, it's just low-res 2D artwork, but RPG maker games usually specifically look like JRPGs, probably because that's the style the included assets are made in.

Kardwill: But if you don't, you might try "Embric of Wulfhammer's Castle".

Although for this one, I would suggest to play without the "mature art" (it can be disabled when you start the game), as I found the story and 8-bit pixel art actually more suggestive than the very amateurish "mature content". So that might defeat your "games with sexual content" specification. ^^
I've tried it. Didn't really like it.

I take it from the replies I've got that the only ones trying to cater to the adult erotic games market are the Japanese, and those who try to copy them (with very few exceptions), and since I don't like those types of games, I guess I'm out of luck in that regard. Oh well, it's not that I really miss something like that, I just thought it could be interesting if done well.
I just remembered. Contrast this to Mafia 2. You can collect Playboy magazines including Naked photos. Yet Mafia 2 IS being sold without any censorship.
If it's just the screenshots that cause a problem, why can't they just remove all violent screenshots from the storepage of Max Payne for Germany, replace them with fluffy kittens, and sell the game to us already! :P

I admit that I STILL haven't gotten to play them yet but don't The Witcher games from our own, dear CD Projekt Red have something like this too? Playing card mementos of everyone you've boned or something crazy?

OH and Killer is Dead with its infamous 'gigolo mode'

Well, the original Witcher does have that, yes. The Witcher 2 just has animated sex scenes with full nudity :-P

Tarm: Yes and thank you! That have been really bugging me lately.

On topic.
I do wish the western world/culture would stop this trend where everything sex in media is bad if not in some kind of porn.

HijacK: That is just America. Eastern Europe doesn't really care about censorship.
It's getting more like this in "western" europe too. For example Sweden have gone from sinful fun in the 70ties to prudes and I don't like it.

omega64: Turns out Steam does pop up when a game has actual sexual content though. They couldn't possibly allow something like that.

Fortunately, like HuniePop and Sunrider, there is a patch - http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=346601625

Lifthrasil: And for True Love, while we're at it! :-)
Fortunately, JAST still sells all of the games they still can DRM-free. Unfortunately, that means the chances of them coming to GOG are pretty low, being a self-hosted store for adult-oriented games that already sells them DRM-free. It also means that if it's not being sold, there's some complication keeping it from being sold, making the game coming to GOG very unlikely.

Hmm... is Embric of Wulfhammer's Castle any good as a game in its own right? Or only if one is specifically looking for sexual content? I'd be interested in the former, but not the latter.

Mmmh. The gameplay itself is not stellar (it's mostly walking around and talking to everyone, with very few combats and no real puzzle other than "where should I go next?"), but otherwise, it's surprisingly good. The story and characters are good, and it's funny as hell. For me, it's a serious contender for my "best gaming-related experience of 2014" trophy.
Frankly, the sexual content is not the main appeal of the game (especially the "mature art", that is sometimes cute but often very amateurish), and it's more "good fun with a little naughty" than outright pornographic.

If you're not allergic to amateur games, try it. You might not like it, but for me, it was a very nice surprise.

That sounds like a game I'd enjoy. Thanks for the info. Never heard of that game until you mentioned it.

Tarm: Off topic but why the heck are steam links I click always in spanish now?
Funny thing: some steam links appear in swedish to me xD. I think if you are logged in, it displays your language of preference.
