Master of Orion series, Silver, Outcast, Rollercoaster Tycoon series, and more Atari All-Stars 60% off

Accelerate into amazement, astonishment, and astoundment as the abundant amassment of authentic Atari awesomeness arrives! Our new [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/atari_weekend_promo/]Atari All-Stars weekend promo offers you with an incredible selection of 26 Atari games and you can get each and every one of them 60 (yes: s-i-x-t-y!) percent off. Whatever your taste in games might be, you're sure to find something new (or old) and exciting for yourself. We've got space strategies, tales of the Wild West, lovecraftian survival adventures, ultra-violent shooters, theme park sims, medieval RPGs, nautical adventures, and more. So much more. Let's look at some of the games from this supreme selection to give you a better idea of what kind of a promo you're dealing with here. Shall we begin with something otherworldly?

Master of Orion 1+2 series is a paragon of sci-fi managerial strategy. Lead your race towards galactic domination in a universe full of opportunity. Those games are so complex and satisfying, that you could easily play them for years.

Silver is a colorful RPG that looks like a fairy tale and plays a lot like one of Final Fantasy games. It was, however, developed in Europe so its setting, aesthetics, and storytelling are something completely different than what you would've expected to see in a jRPG.

Outcast is an incredible adventure in a open-ended sci-fi world. The game uses the retro-futuristic technology of voxel graphics to represent one of the biggest and most imaginative gameworlds ever to grace computer screens. Check out this unique gem that really came ahead of its times.

Rollercoaster Tycoon Deluxe lets you create and manage the amusement park of your dreams. Design the rides, set the prices, draw in visitors, and let the profitable fun begin! Be sure to check out the sequel, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, and the feature-filled Rollercoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum! for even more theme park building pleasure.

Before you rush off to the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/atari_weekend_promo/]promo page, there are two more things that we'd like to tell you. We'll be adding some new extras and bonuses to our Atari games today. As usual, we have some of our amazing community members to thank for providing us with this content. Our gratitude goes to users: jeremiahh, SpooferJahk, and Daedolon (the man behind The Postmortem, the biggest community website). Remember to check inside your virtual boxes of [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/alone_in_the_dark]Alone in the Dark 1+2+3, , [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/master_of_magic]Master of Magic, and Blood. This also gives you a great opportunity to check out a new GOG.com site functionality. Your games' shelf now comes with a new sorting option, so you can easily find new and recently updated games in your collection. How to use it? Consult the screenshot hovering around this paragraph--it's pretty much self-explanatory (just click to enlarge it).

Elmofongo: got alone in the dark 1 already, but is a new nightmare any good?
Yes it is! quite difficult though.
Picked up Darklands, Desperado, Star Control 3 and King of Dragon Pass (Not on sale) in the end.

mkell_226: Well, that's my wishlist a bit smaller.

You'll be giving Eidos the same treatment next week, right? ; )
Yeah, I'm still patiently waiting for the first Squeeniz promo... :)
On the fence about the Desperados games... anyone feel like talking me into or out of buying them?

I can talk about the first one: it's a must if you like the Commandos series, the same mechanics of the first one with the addition of an "action trigger" that lets you program an action and trigger it with whenever you want (planning become easier), and the characters have a more unique feeling too (stereotypical, sure, but more unique between each other - in Commandos they're all commandos). It's a good strategy game with a well done western setting. I say you should buy it.
I never played the second one, but it seems that it's not as well received as the first.

Already had MOO 1/2, Outcast, Blood, and Star Control 1/2.

I didn't want to spend much right now but decided to add some more of the more popular/classic choices to my collection. I got Master of Magic, Colonization, and Chronicles of Riddick.

Any others I should grab before the promo ends?

I thought about buying one of the RCT games, but I'm not sure I'd even enjoy them. RCT 2 seems to be the most popular, but not all the reviews were positive.
Hopefully someone can reply.

There's a review on the site that says the commentaries are missing from the game - what's this about? Is this true or a mistake?

RCT1 is pretty awesome I have never played it until this sale and I am having a blast with it I am considering buying RCT2 because of how much I am enjoying RCT, I read that there is not much difference between them except for RCT2 having a larger selection of buildings and rides and having a scenario mode.
RCT1 you need to complete all the scenarios to unlock the 'Mega Park', whilst in RCT2 you have a scenario editor to create any park you like. Both are excellent, but RCT2 has more of everything, shops, rides, objects etc.. I think rolley 2 is the best of the bunch, though Rolley 1 has more interesting scenarios such as Pokey Park and Rainbow Valley.

Rolley 1 is still excellent though, and gives a good introduction into the rolley experience. The scenarios are different from the sequel. So much so that I bought both Rolley 1 & 2 on a previous sale. In other words, it's all good :)

Desperados.
I would advise anyone on the fence about MoM to get it before this promo ends.
I've already bought all games I wanted prior to this promo, so I'll pass. But it's much welcomed because I could throw saved money at Broken Sword 5 :).
Regarding the RCT games...
-Rollercoaster Tycoon is an excellent game, very well-made and stands the test of time without much problem. You can easily spend a ridiculous amount of time playing it if you're into managing sims (but this is true for all of them).
-RCT2 is basically the same (it was even chided back in the day for that - really, the biggest problem with it was that it was more like an expansion pack for the first game while sold for full price) with the addition of strikingly different themes. It also introduced free play and level editor.
-The third installment is like the second, but in 3D, with charming, cartoon-like graphics and elements not seen in the previous two games (especially with the two expansion packs).

So really, one can't go wrong with any of them, but if your finances allow, you can buy all three as well - they are worth the investment. (Yes, for $10 even the "expansion pack" RCT2 is well worth buying alongside the first game, and for $4 it's even more true.)
