I'm sitting here thinking what on Earth is "mono" as America has some different names for diseases, etc.

Worked out it's glandular fever and yes, I've had that too and it was terrible O_o
I was in Japan once and developed a serious case of yellow fever, if you know what I mean.

StingingVelvet: I've had salmonella twice, neither was a good time I assure you. You feel pretty much dead for 3-4 days and it lingers for a like a week after that as mild symptoms.

Fuggin' Hungry Howies.

Perfect description but you forgot the bit about tossing up all that yellowish-green fluorescent fluid we didn't know that we had in us called "bile."

About five years old.

Massive fever triggered a stroke. Dad saw my eyes roll backwards into my head and then I passed out.

Woke up a few seconds later screaming in a tub filled with ice and then passed out again.

Woke up again in the back of a racing police car full sirens and then blacked out again.

Missing time from that point until age 7 when I got an Odyssey 2 for X-Mas.

Humorous answer: I HAVE DIED OF DYSENTERY. (A LOT.)

Serious answer: A broken ankle around 25 years ago which required surgery. Couldn't walk at all for three months; used a cane for four more. To this day I still have the pin in there.

In terms of illness, about six or seven years ago I got the flu so bad I couldn't eat for three days. But every cloud has a silver lining; it kickstarted my most successful diet ever: I lost 90 lbs. (40 kg.) over the course of seven months, and have managed to keep more than 3/4 of it off ever since.
