It's amazing. I played it years ago, and recently I bought it here - it still kicks ass.
Graphics are nice, because the backgrounds are "painted", so it sill looks just like it looked before.
The game is also pretty complex and will let you entertained for a long time. Even better if you have a friend to play with via LAN for example.

Tell you what, should it go on 75% sale I'll get it. Hopefully, I'll eventually give it a try, too.

As far as historical, one of my favourites is the Europa Universalis or Victoria series by Paradox. Not the most complex game in terms of AI but the scale of it makes it quite a challenge.

I love these type of games as well. I own a good chunk of these types of games from Paradox, and I remember loving nobunagas ambition as well as the old Romance of the three kingdoms. Imperialism Looks great, never played it, may try and pick it up later in the sale if I can scrounge the cash.

Unity of Command, anyone? The game is fun--but the AI is mean as hell.

I will! Only found the game 4 years ago and it quickly became my most played game ever. I played it for months at a time. Sometimes with the sequel mixed in. I just never get tired of either 1 or 2.

I remember playing Axis & Allies on pc about 15 years ago. That was quite enjoyable. Or was it Risk? I can't remember. Duh.

I really like games like that too. I remember playing Imperialism 2 in grade school and loving it. I think I'll splurge after Christmas and pick up Imp. 1.
