Dalton was approached before Moore for the role, and turned it down because he felt he was too young. "Look me up in 10 years, if you still want me".
To me, even growing up on Connery and Moore, Dalton's was by far the better Bond.
Connery's accent grated. Moore was far too glib and unserious, even when it was needed.
Lazenby.....mediocre....at best.
(incidentally, someone a couple pages back claimed he was British - Not by 8,000 miles he wasn't. He was Australian ;) )
Brosnan....tried too hard, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Not bad as Bond, but not great.
Daniel Craig is....a harsher Brosnan, I 'd have to say. He's trying, the remake/reboot of Casino Royale was fairly good, but QoS seemed a bit too tacky, and rushed, and not sure of itself.
Edit : Afterthought - If you like Dalton, as an actor, you could do worse than look up what, in my opinion, is his finest work : Hawks. Co-starring that guy who played Dr Mark green in ER.
Really moving, funny, serious, and all round good film!
