This is more a question for GoG (though they might not be able to talk about it due to legal issues). Why is it that some games on GoG have games separated (such as Spellforce 2) when there are Gold/plat/etc versions that has all parts in 1 single pack?

Is it a disagreement with the publisher(s)? Or is it a problem with the Gold/plat./whathaveyou versions not being able to run on older systems/other technical issues?

yeah I am guessing it's rights and licensing issues. The biggest one for me personally is the tomb raider games without the expansions. When and if they figure that out, i'll buy them again here.

In some cases it's probably due to the games in question having been released here back when GOG only had two price points, $5.99 and $9.99. If a combined pack would need to be priced higher than $9.99, the only option would have been to release the games separately.

They do have Spellforce Platinum.

Spellforce 2 was its own game. The rest of them were additions, and I'm not sure about dates but I don't think they all came out at the same time, so maybe that has something to do with it. Still, it would be nice to have them all together.

But there's Spellforce 2 Gold which has both Spellforce 2 games.

What I find more a dissappointment is the Red Baron pack for example, at some point Red Baron was released as part of the Aces Collection together with A-10 Tankkiller, Aces of the Pacific and Aces over Europe, all of which are contemporary titlels, Red Baron II/3D could then be sold seperately.
I know this isn't possible for gog to do as the rightsholders don't have those other titles, but still.
Maybe Apache Longbow and Hind which were at some point released as part of the Frontline Fighters package, together with F-16 with the Afghan expansion would also attract more sales this way.

I see. Didn't know that. I still have my disc-based Spellforce 2. Guess I haven't been keeping up, despite loving them. :-)

Because the publisher said so !
