So I have this game and whenever I hit Play, it goes to the loader and then does nothing. No game start, nothing. Should I redownload and reinstall it? My system specs are optimum for it and everything, but it just won't play. I used the GoG downloader to download it. Does that make a difference?

I also wondered if I need the CD key (which is the next thing I'm intending to get) even though I'm just wanting to play the campaign for now.

Don't know which OS you're in, if it's Vista or 7 all of the usuall stuff like Running as Admin, etc, might help.

In any case, you could try going to the game folder and try to launch directly by double clicking the nwmain.exe file

I think the CD key is only required for online play, so i'd say no, you don't need it to play the Campaign.

Edit: Forgot to answer this one.

if the game installed ok without giving any file integrity errors you have a good installer file there and as long as your install files are good it doesn't make a difference which method you used to download them.

I've got the same problem, but it's very easy to solve: just open the main folder you installed NWN in and start the game via nwmain.exe

The problem isn't the file you downloaded or your installation but rather the game launcher confilcts somehow with Win7.

Hope it helps you, have fun playing the game!
Yeah...following the above advice should probably get you further.

You did download and install the 1.69 critical rebuild patch from nwn.bioware.com also right? That is also needed to get a full install of the game unfortunately...

About the CD-key you don't really need it until you decide to play online...but I would get it as soon as possible anyway.

Hope to see you online soon :-)
Okay, the other issue is that this is on a secondary account and not a main one (I'm using Vista on a shared computer with a roommate) and I don't have access to the admin account password or anything. Any way I can set it to run without needing admin access?

I'm reinstalling with the help of this guide: http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/187/index/3341490 later on tonight so I'm just wondering if I can have permissions set on it so that it runs without the need of an admin.
Install it (almost) anywhere other than the Program Files directory and you should not have to be bothered with administrator rights.
