Why? If the IP holders had any objection to it, they could have stopped the project years ago. The development of the remake has been documented on the Bioware forums (both old and new) since inception (almost seven years ago), so it was in plain sight.

Also, if they move against BG:R, then they should also move against the Icewind Dale Remake, which has been available for about a year now.

Plain sight, still below the radar as far as legal departments are considered.
And no-one has paid cash for the rights to make and sell IWD enchanced edition AFAIK.
Besides, IWD remake wasn't the full game, was it? Not sure.

I'm having some trouble downloading modules from other sites right now. Is it likely that there is just a mad rush to download BG since people have been waiting for it? I'm not trying to get BG but the sites I'm trying are either very, very slow or not accessible and I'm guessing they may just be crazy busy if BG has had a lot of hype in the community. Sound reasonable? I'm trying nwvault.ign.com and neverwinternexusmods.com. Is there someplace better to look?

Correct. Just keep in mind, that the IWD remake doesn't include the expansions.

BG:R is currently only available on the nexus, so only their servers should be overtaxed right now. The vault, on the other hand, has some troubles lately (it's beginning to fall apart), so I'm not surprised you are having problems downloading from there too.

The only other place, I know of, where you can get mods is the new Neverwinter Vault. The community is only slowly migrating there, so the amount of available modules is still very low.

Gaunathor, the vault worked for me eventually, but thanks for the heads up on what is going on.

Personally, I think I'll wait a week or two before dling it. I am sure there are a wee bit of bugs out there within the mod that will be fixed by then. It does look sweet...Now if the BG2 team that is making BG2 within DA:O comes out with it one day...it will be Heaven on Earth I tell you!
