iv browsed the forums tried everything and depending on what I do I get a different failure message. for example I downloaded all the parts required to install nwn in the same file, put it in a separate folder from programs and ran it as an admin. but when the games about to start I get a message about a C++ runtime error and the game cancels out iv been trying to get the game up and running for days and so far iv had no luck and this is just one of the problems I have. any help would be great thanks

More details please, what OS? What install source?

my apologies, im using windows 8 as my OS and iv installed from both the downloader and iv even tried from galaxy once but this particularly problem came from the downloader.

Can't say I remember offhand which redistrib NWN1 and/or NWN2 use. Good thing you didn't post the actual error as then I could have told you which Microsoft Visual C++ YYYY Redistributable Package to install.

You may need to install the June 2010 DirectX runtime package. You can grab the file here.
