I'm having a really annoying problem. My idiot companions keep switching weapons. Like my warrior, when I control him I use shield and longsword, but as soon as I leave him alone he switch to a two-hander and it annoys the hell out of me. How do I stop them from switching weapons?

I have gone through the behavior but can't see anything about weapon switching there. I have use items off, but that doesn't seem to help.

I guess I could play without AI, but then the companions don't follow me around...

Please help. I just kinda adjusted to the awful camera but If I can't solve this I will ditch the game.

The "use items" setting is for things like potions and scrolls, not weapons. The easiest way to prevent them from using weapons you don't want them to use is to simply take them away from them, and either give them to a character that you don't usually keep in the party, or put in storage somewhere, or give to a character that lacks the proficiency to use those weapons.

They also won't switch to use a weapon in their inventory if it's inside a container, like a bag or pouch.

However, if you're using Companion and Monster AI mod, there is a line under the 'Behavior' tab that says 'Automatic Weapon Switch', just turn that off and you'll be fine.

I removed all extra weapons . . . now my cleric just switches out his mace to fight bare handed. I don't see any options to prevent switching out weapons in the behaviour tab. Has that been removed in the most recent version?

Update: Ah, my bad. I am using a UI mod and needed to download a patch for it.
