I know the games been on the gog store for a while, but as there was a huge argument over on the NWN2 thread, I think it's worthy of discussion.

Is there any possibility of fixing the DRM for this? From my understanding on the other thread, there is still some slight DRM left over, and some of the modules that did not come with Diamond can't be including because of DRM.

As someone who loves having all official content for a game, and loves having no DRM is there any possibility of this ever being fixed? It'd be a shame to just see this go by in time, and then eventually never being able to play the modules because the activation servers get shut off.

For the case report I compared all NWN1 Diamond files with boxed copy again and nothing different in GOG copy . Could someone help me about NWN2 because I am still in holiday and not download GOG's version . Download this program http://dl.dropbox.com/u/104287366/md5v12005.rar Open it and select NWN2 install directory later select create sums and after select select all and later press add recursively . Then press ok and when it's complete save the file and upload it somewhere . Thanks :)
I detailed all the various kinds of DRM that still exists in NWN1 in this post:

I had owned diamond edition before buying it from gog. I rebought from gog for the removal of the DRM. But eventually found out that nothing was modified from the diamond edition.

Things that need to happen.
1. Remove CDKey dependency and lock from premium modules (if you want multiplayer you need to change the CDKey from the default to a unique one that was given to you by gog. Making such a change breaks the DRM circumvention on the premium modules and they stop working; as the circumvention locks them to the cdkey used to install the game)
A workaround here would be to give us a tool to modify the keys for multiplayer without breaking the circumvention on the premium modules while leaving their DRM intact. Its not ideal but it would be better then now.
2. Allow single player to run without CDkey. (currently game terminates if you hit cancel when prompted for key if the keyfile is deleted)
3. Skip the time consuming attempt to login to the master server and go straight to the window where you have the option to use direct connect.

This one would be awesome to have but not really feasible due to amount of work involved:
4. Modify the server code so that instead of using cdkey to identify players it uses a username and password (such functionality would have to be coded first... maybe. I think I vaguely remember servers having username and password but I think this was due to the master server tie-in which had to be removed from such servers since the master server is down)

I really just don't want the modules to never be playable again because the server is down, I know it may be hardwork to get them working, maybe impossible. But it's just quite annoying that this DRM exists still.
Any helps for me ? :D

The only modules that still depend on the DRM server for activation are modules which gog does not sell/provide with the game.
You can play all the Premium Modules. The authentication server is down permanently, so as long as you've found somewhere to download the modules themselves, they can be played. No, I won't tell you where to download them; use google.

Awesome news , last year I tried them but they failed :S
Ah, I found out I had reinstalled the premium modules over the GOG version causing them to require the authorization,

But still, I wonder if the other 3 premium modules will ever be removed of that horrible DRM, I hope so, I'd love for them to be on GOG.

Actually, it's no big deal. Bioware is still distributing them.

http://files.bioware.com/neverwinternights/modules_premium/InfiniteDungeons_Installer.exe

It's unlikely they will ever be officially supported in any way. I doubt we'll ever see them added to an "official" bundle. But, hey. The GoG guys have surprised me before...

If you are downloading these keep in mind Kingmaker and ShadowGuard plus Witches Wake modules are already in the GoG version.

1. Yes you can play all the modules, because the server is authenticating all requests.
2. The modules are hosted and linked in the bioware forums. They were shareware, working in DEMO MODE unless you purchased it. However, the recent modification to the DRM server means that it will auto authenticate even if you did not.
3. If the server was down you couldn't play ANY of them. There is no failsafe to unlock the modules in the case of the server being down, if the server is down the modules (those not sold by gog) become unplayable)...

And prior posts for the settling of the dispute on how the DRM works for the premium modules WHICH GOG DOES NOT SELL!

This is key btw, the fact is gog only sells the premium modules which were packages on the kingmaker CD, those have the DRM bypassed (but not removed) such that they do not need online authentication, instead locking to the local CDKey (which was determined at time of install for the kingmaker cd but is locked to the default GOG installation key in the gog release; which is a problem for multiplayer)

So, lets leave the DRM of premium modules which gog does not even sell for other threads, this one deals with the actual GOG version DRM issues.

There's a tool in the extras for reinstalling the premium modules with a new CD key. Doesn't that work?

It's not a tool . Original Kingmaker Expansion from NWN Diamond Disk .
