So I decided to reinstall and play through this again and grabbed some mods. Got them all working but decided I wanted to play around with a race from the mod Races of Faerun. Relooked up all the tutorials and whatnot for changing stuff in the 2das and all that and what I changed SHOULD have worked. But it didn't.
So here's hoping that someone could point out what went wrong.
First I unzipped the 2da inside the mod folder and edited the stat adjustments and ecl for the race I wanted in the racialsubtypes.2da using notepad++. Saved that, deleted the old 2da zip, rezipped the files back into the same named 2da zip and put it where the old zip was just in case the game needed them archived instead of loose in a folder(I have both). Then changed the dialogue.tlk to match the changes I made.
Opened the game and started a new character. Everything works fine, the dialogue on the race matches the changes I made and it's all great until I get to the part of adding stat points. The stats are the same as before I changed things. And I can't for the life of me figure out why. I double checked repeatedly that the changes stuck in the 2da I changed so what am I missing? Only changed the race in the racialsubtypes.2da since it's a subrace of Outsider. Which means there should be nothing to change in the racialtypes.2da. The other files that go along with that race are just the color2da and the feat2da which again I don't want to change.
As a test I added the human feat Quick to Master to the racial_feat.2da to see if it was the whole process I was wrong on. And while the feat DID show up as having it when I skipped over to feat selection, it didn't actually give me an extra feat to choose during creation like it was supposed to So...only half right?
I even went so far as to take that particular 2da, which was originally named ORIGINAL_ROF_racialsubtypes.2da and put that into the main 2da folder of the mod and renamed it just racialsubtypes.2da like in the original game files but no luck. I know this is quite an old game but here's hoping someone lurking the forums might know.
EDIT:: So I randomly found a post on here from just 2 hours ago that solved this problem. There was ANOTHER racialsubtypes.2da file in a mod folder further down the load order that wasn't changed. Changed it and voila! It worked!
