I've been playing NWN Diamond and even used to run a 24/7 PW server for years.

The EE installation seems to be a little different, and I'm trying to convert/run my PW with it and find I have a few questions.

1. Where is the setup.ini file that allows the editing of things like initial screen size, whether it runs full screen, etc.? It's not in the main NWN:EE directory.

2. Where is the servervault located? (again, there used to be a seperate folder for characters to be stored on the hosting machine to prevent editing of characters offline)

I'll probably have more later when I try to install the server on the Linux machine.....

Thanks.

I'm not sure what's the answer to your second question, as I've never hosted a server, but it might be the same as the answer to the first one:

Instead of storing any customizable files in the main directory, NWN EE puts all of them in your Documents folder, under "Neverwinter Nights". Characters and savegames are stored in the subfolders of that directory now, and all hak and module files go there, too. If you want haks in your override folder, you should also use the one in your Documents/NWN directory.

The configuration files like nwn.ini and nwnplayer.ini were moved there, too, but since the last two patches NWN EE does not use nwn.ini anymore but a new file called settings.tml which you will also find there, in the Documents/NWN directory.

In-game, there is a new hidden options menu that you can access by pressing Ctrl+Shft+F12.

(EDIT: This is all for Windows, btw. I don't know anything about Linux, sadly.)

Ah, thanks for that. That does help.

Not sure why Beamdog changed it so much. I have moved all the existing haks and tlk files for my server into the game directory (not the Docs dir) and it runs fine, so maybe either one works.

ETA: After looking. The Servervault directory is also in the Docs folder. Good to know, and thanks again.

I guess the idea was that the custom files are less dependent on the installation folder or something and you can't accidentally mess up the original game files. NWN2 does that naturally, so maybe that's how they came up with it. I didn't like it at first, coming from NWN Diamond, but now I think it actually has its benefits. For example, I don't know if you use Galaxy or not, but if you don't, like me, you will find that when NWN EE receives a new patch, GOG hardly ever uploads actual patch files anymore but new, updated installers instead, so you have to download the whole game again, uninstall the old version, then install the new one. With all the custom files safely in My Documents, out of the way, you don't need to worry about them getting deleted in the process.

Necroing an old thread here, but can I put mods and stuff into the actual game folder instead? As this approach would cause huge problems for me as I use the D drive for storage yet with this things ends up in the much smaller C drive.

Hi, you can edit nwn.ini and configure all the program directories to D:\
