During the last disussions I have tealized that I have rarely used ranged weapons in NWN1+2.
This writing made me want to play NWN2 OC+MotB again and I want to use something I never had before.

-Regarding immuneties or damage reduction: Is the enchantment of the weapon (e.g. bow) or the enchantment of the ammo (e.g. arrow) signifucant to determin if you do damage or not?

-Does the enchantment of weapon and ammo always stack? (bow+5 fires arrow+3 = +8AB and damage (+arcane archer bonus?))

-Are there weapons with elemental damage?

-Can you add elemental damage to weapons or ammo.

-Does elemental damage from weapon and ammo stack?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

And now to something completely different:

Another thing I have never used is a monk.
I think about a monk/cleric/sacred fist.

-Does your glove stack with your fist?
I mean, if you have adamantite fists (monk lv16) and you wear a glove+3, do you use an adamantite weapon +3 or is it only a weapon+3?

-Does a glove count as weapon regarding the code of conduct of the sacred fist?

-Robes from monks and mages do not count as armor when an ability says "can only be used when not wearing armor", right?

Enchantment on a bow only provides an attack bonus, and for some bows the Mighty property (allows you to deal bonus damage equal to your Str bonus or the Mighty modifier, whichever is lower). Enchantment on arrows (eg. Arrow+3) provides attack bonus, damage bonus, and is what is taken into account when dealing with enemy damage reduction.

The attack bonus from bow and arrows stack, the damage bonus from arrow enchantment and Mighty stack, but for damage reduction only the enchantment on the arrow is taken into account.

Mad3: -Are there weapons with elemental damage?
As far as I know there aren't any bows with elemental damage; rather, elemental damage is found on ammunition. Some bows have a property to provide unlimited ammo, with some providing unlimited ammo than contains an elemental damage bonus.

Mad3: -Can you add elemental damage to weapons or ammo.
No. From what I recall you can't actually enchant bows in NWN2 like you can melee weapons, and you can't enchant ammo either (you're basically stuck with bows and ammo you can find/buy).

Mad3: -Does elemental damage from weapon and ammo stack?
Elemental damage only comes from ammo, so question is not applicable.

Gloves only provide an attack bonus (and in some cases a damage bonus, but this is usually elemental damage); for purposes of damage reduction only the level of the monk's Ki Strike ability counts.

No, they can safely use gloves without incurring any penalties. Also of note, monks can use certain weapons (Kama, Quarterstaff) while still retaining all of their monk bonuses, but a Sacred Fist cannot use any weapons without suffering a major penalty.

Correct.

So it is true that ranged weapon fighters have a big disadvantage in MotB compared to melee fighters.
I finished OC/MotB with strengh fighter using a self made adamantite weapon with high enchantment
and additional elemental damage.
An archer has to use the weapon he finds.

MotB is one of the best games ever.
But it is such a high magic world that you have a big disadvantage if you do not fight with a self made weapon.
So both (the archer and the monk/sacred fist) will have a hard time.

But I will NOT use something like a kaze no kama.
Its not fun to be a weakling for the entire game (OC+MotB) just to kill the final boss in a few seconds.
Yeah, characters not making use of a melee weapon do tend to get the short end of the stick, mostly due to how ridiculously overpowered the weapon enchants are in MotB (and to a lesser extent even the OC). That said, such characters can still do just fine, they just won't be killing everything they touch in seconds like some of the minmax builds (like the kaze no kama you mentioned).
Forgot if NWN2 has Arcane Archer, but in NWN1 it was a fine way to play an effective archer.
All classes that exist in NWN1 also exist in NWN2. Only the chanpion of torm has become the divine champion. Many new classes and races have been added. Someday I like to play a sorcerer/arcane scolar. Absolute freedom of spells and meta magic. But I cannot get myself to use an arcane caster as main char. I need to find out what spells to use if something big wants to hit you (I have so little HP, AC and fighting skill) and what spells remain to do some damage.

About the archer:
I choose to use an archer in NWN2 OC+MotB but I see 2 problems coming:
-Usually you fight lots of enemies at once. Staying away from them will be hard. Sure, you have point blank shot, but imagine the following situation: An elf archer is surroundet by 10 Orcs. They are only 1 meter away from him and swing a big axe. The elf says: Cool, they are so close that I do +1damage.

-I need to fill half of my inventory with arrows. You have 6 attacs per round + improved rapid shot + haste and maybe also manyshot.

Just to nitpick the Shifter prestige class from NWN was left out of NWN2, along with the Purple Dragon Knight (although that one was only introduced late in the lifecycle of NWN).

sorry, I never played these classes.
When I had a druid in my group he never used shapeshift at all.
And I never had riding skill because its useless in the official campaigns.
