I recently reinstalled my retail version of Neverwinter nights 2 and its two expansions to play. When I tried to leave the Sunken Flagon for the first time my game crashed. When I looked up the issue it seemed as though the problem was that the game wasn't fully patched. The automatic updater no longer works so I had to do it manually. I followed this guide to manually update the game.

After patching the game, I now can't load a game at all. Starting a new game also crashes the game. Any idea what could fix the problem? I was trying to save $20 since I already have the discs but would just getting the GOG version save me the headache?
